sparks: Behavior modification is a specialty of the military, corporations, wives, especially wives, parents, educators, peers, prisons, advertising agencies, etc. Ideally the younger the target the easier it is to modify behavior.
I'm right there with ya Redbeard, I graduated college in a field that was supposed to have a ton of opportunities. I however never found them, so I'm working part time at a stable. Now I'm applying for a second part time job just so I can pay my student loans. Good luck on your search.
Jeez, Red. I've got nothing to add that hasn't already been written in this thread. I've been in your position several times in my working career and it really sucks the high hard one. Moreso, it only gets worse the older you get.
But, you know something? Just when it seems like things couldn't get any worse something happens. God smiles. The table gets tilted in your favor and pigs really do grow wings.
In the meantime, stay strong, keep your head down, then grab a root and growl. In twelve months you'll look back on all this and say, "I'll be go to hell if I ever go through that again."
Prayers sent, bud.

Redbeard, thanks for posting. We're here for you. Like so many others here I've also "been there, done that." I was told once that it takes about five years to rebuild a career. I found it took me almost exactly five years starting with nothing. Good luck on your journey, I'll be praying for you.
Red I"m pulling for you. Just before I retired with Exxon I was asked to sit on a hireing team by the Division Manager, I was classified as a maverick and told him NO, he asked why, I told him you ain't gonna hire the good ones you're gonna hire the bullshitters. When you do hire them, run them down to the machine shop and chuck them up in the lathe and cut threads in one ear. He looked at me like I was crazy, WHY, he said, I told him so they can screw those damn phones in that they're on all the time. That did not go over well. I didn't care they had their quota and that was what they were gonna hire.
I've just found out yesterday that I need to seek new employment, I feel the discouragement too.
Oh well, as my Papa said "I woke up this morning, so that's good news."
Going to go enjoy my morning pipe here soon.. woke up a bit earlier than usual due to cheese induced nightmares..
Dont let it bog you down, the first professional job I got was after I applied in 500 companies in one day and only 1 replied back. Sometimes we have to rebrand ourselves and then sell that image to the people who are hiring for a particular job. Over qualification is also one factor as the idiots usually think if you have more than enough experience you will get restless early and move on to a better job. Honestly, in my 16 years since I started working, the most dumbest departments I have seen in any company has been the HR. So keep applying and always call them and talk to them directly, its harder for people to be asshats on phone or face to face than on email.
Cheers,
What a shit topic yet the support is great! I'm fed up with today. But I'll tell my story soon. I'm just great full such topic is open for discussion amongst my peers here.
