It's a Vauen Whistle 5. And suits me ergonomically, besides being a great smoker too.Now that's a curious looking pipe.

I would agree with this. It's very smooth and "creamy." A little cocoa, a little sweet in a natural way, the same way Virginia is naturally sweet. It's rich in burley flavor but in more of a grassy plant-like way than an earthy way. When I'm looking for straight burley that smokes and feels like a high-quality Virgina, hiking is the only thing that hits the nail. I heard someone call it a gourmet Prince Albert and that's a great way of putting it. I have yet to try Wessex or Solani ABF so I'm very curious how they stack up.I read that Hiking has a codger kind of feel to it.
That's hilarious. Last year I ordered two tins of Cult BRM and P&C sent me two *five packs* of tins. I have more BRM than any one person needs.Smoking pipes made a slight boo-boo on my order and instead of 1oz of the Lane LL-7, I got 8oz of Sutliff Mixture 79. They said "Oops, sorry about that, you can just keep it for your trouble." Not sure if Vanilla Burley will be my thing, but I certainly have plenty of it.
It dropped down to $5/tin several years ago and I bought 30 of them. That's hilarious. Last year I ordered two tins of Cult BRM and P&C sent me two *five packs* of tins. I have more BRM than any one person needs.![]()
Krikey! I really like BRM, but I couldn't possibly smoke all of that in my lifetime! Too many other blends to enjoy. It dropped down to $5/tin several years ago and I bought 30 of them.
A 50g tin only lasts me for a day or two.Krikey! I really like BRM, but I couldn't possibly smoke all of that in my lifetime! Too many other blends to enjoy.![]()
I think it tastes like root beer.I wasn't familiar with Mixture 79 so I looked it up on Tobacco Reviews.... The reviewers are not generally kind toward it. American Lakeland... soap... perfume counter blend... tastes like smoking a urinal cake one fellow said (how many bowls of urinal cake did he smoke during the analysis to make sure it was sufficiently similar to make the claim?)
Looking good!As a European I always envied you Americans, with websites like smokingpipes and so much choice. Well now ive found a way around the fact that they don't ship to Belgium!
Thanks to a fellow member of the pipe community, i get to have these blends that I wouldn't be able to get normally!
(+Some stuff that was simply cheaper in the US of A)
Awesome! Going to let all the tins age and I will mylar the bulk Tomorrow

I must disclaim that he was a middle man! I payed for this stuff, and got him a tin of his own choosing for the effort.Looking good!
I hope that I had friends that would send me tobacco like that.
Everyone's tastes are different, but I didn't get the perfume/soapiness at all. It wasn't bad to me. It reminded me mostly of Aged Burley Flake, which I like better, so it didn't make my rotation.I wasn't familiar with Mixture 79 so I looked it up on Tobacco Reviews....
