Mate i don’t even know where Indiana is on a map. Gotta get up with the play and the lingo obviously
That's like me with New Zealand. I know it's next to Australia, has no deadly venomous animals, and has those adorable Kakapo birds.

Ok so don’t want to derail this thread - can’t be arsed starting a new one, but @hoosierpipeguy is your last name Hoosier? Or is it kinda like a “whose a pipe guy? I’m a pipe guy!” thingamajig.

I live in Indiana. Indiana is known as the Hoosier state or said differently, folks from Indiana are known as Hoosiers. Thus, HoosierPipeGuy. I can't say for certain how Hoosier came to be.

The most popular story goes back to the pioneer days when there were still Native Americans the pioneer were in fear of. When the pioneers would hear a noise outside, they would shout "Who's there?" later shortened to Hoosier. I've never heard any alternative explanation.

Rattray’s Marlin Flake is as sweet as I’ve had without it being classified as an aromatic, even though it’s certainly cased. I too look for sweet non-aro’s, as I predominantly smoke non-aromatic Virginia/Virginia-based blends, but, to tell you the truth, even I struggle sometimes to notice any truly sweet notes. A shame, as I really like them, but, it seems the best I can do is try to let my palate develop. I just took a two day break period after a month or so of smoking every day, so, fingers crossed, hopefully I’ll be able to notice sweetness a little more.

Thanks for the suggestions. I really struggle to get any sweetness from Virginias despite what the reviews say.
If you're new to this you may not get all the flavors right away. It's a different way of tasting stuff than with food and drinks. After some time, your brain will get better wired for it.
There are some good suggestions above. I get most sweetness from darker virginias like Capstan Blue or FVF.
Some va/pers are also sweet, like Peterson Dark Flake, Peterson's Navy Rolls, McConnell's Scottish Cake or Flake, Samuel Gawith Cabbies Mixture.
Most of Mac Baren's blends outside of the HH line are sweet from the processing. Some are mentioned above and I can add Club Blend and Navy Flake.

Im not so new to this. Been smoking a pipe for over two years. Va/pers mostly taste spicy to me. Had some escudo yesterday and definitely was not sweet. Have not had good results with FVF. More ashy than sweet. And yeah, Ive dried it, packed loosely, sipped, been careful with the flame etc. Just havent been able to enjoy it. I have a tin of orlik golden sliced that i need to try.

Can probably tell from my suggestions but I get a lot of sweetness out of burley - more like honey, caramel, malt, burnt butter etc. I’ve only just started to enjoy VA forward stuff and apart from the darker (stoved?) blends or stuff which is blended with dark fired Kentucky, the sweetness I get is like artificial sugar. Enjoyable but not satisfying

Could be your individual mouth chemistry, diet, or any other number of environmental or physiological factors. (Damn, that sounded like I know some big wurds).

Good Va and VaPer blends have pretty much satiated my sweet tooth, so I'm very partial to the OP's blend query. Based on my experience, I'd recommend the following:

1. Esoterica's Brighton, Cardiff, Dunbar, Peacehaven, and Scarborough are all rather sweet when dried sufficiently. Fresh Woodbridge is too, but to me it loses something special once it's opened a few months.

2. Erik Stokkebye's 4th Generation 1855. Like a slightly more refined and sweeter version of MacBaren's #1.

3. MacBaren HH Pure Virginia flake.

4. Peter Stokkebye Luxury Navy Flake (already mentioned).

In the winter when the relative humidity gets real low here in western Virginia, certain oriental heavy blends get very sweet to my tastes. These include Rattray's Red Rapparee, Esoterica's And So To Bed, GL Pease Cairo, and Sam Gawith's Balkan Flake.

Has anyone mentioned Sutliff Molte Dolce or Lanes LL-7. I didn't say they were refined, but they are sweet. If you need a dessert tobacco for your sweet tooth, at low cost, these will do it. Opps, not non-aromatics.

Sutliff 707 Sweet Virginia is an underrated, sweet smoke, imo ...it gives me a similar honey-like sweetness a la Mac Baren Virginia No. 1 and Newminster 400. Orlik Golden Sliced hits the sweet spot for me, too. Lots of great suggestions in here though.
