Sometimes even when smoking slowly you can get a gurgle in your pipe especially with bent pipes as gravity has its way and it can ruin the experience. Here is a way not to prevent the gurgle, but to make it go away once it happens. It's really simple, just blow softly into the stem, it might take a few breaths but just blow softly and it will push the moisture back into the bowl and the gurgle will stop and you can enjoy finishing your bowl.

I almost never get gurgle but I like dry tobacco. Which seems to help the other thing that helps is at least gravity filling most of the chamber. I.e. dump it in and tap the bottom of the pipe to level it off. Even when the dottle is damp as heck it doesn't tend to gurgle well except in that one pipe which gurgles almost every single time Ironically one of my best smokers.

I only get gurgle in one of my meerschaum pipes and only once in a while, this blowing method keeps me from smashing it against the wall.

I don't really worry about it. But the blow method seems to work oddly the more gentle the more effective it seems. A lot of guys use pipe cleaners. Then again I guess I am kind of gross. I don't actually mind that much when the juice comes out the stem (yeah I am trying my hardest to get an out of context quote page started :) ).

Another trick I've learned works well enough in a pinch, just gently flick the stem 5-10 times with your finger with the stem tilted upwards so that the droplets roll back down towards the bowl. Repeat as needed.
Sometimes when I'm walking outdoors I put my thumb over the bowl and give it a hard flick at the ground, I wouldn't do that in the house or truck though.

I've rarely experienced gurgling but when I do it drives me nuts. I push a pipe cleaner through it. When it does happen its always a wet tobacco I didn't care to dry, or I was clenching too long and frankly drooled into the stem lol. Sorry to be gross, is what it is.

Typically, I do blow into the stem sharp, but not enough to let ashes flying all over my shirt. If that doesn't work, always have could of pipe cleaners with me.

I have four bent Petersons and have never had a gurgle, but I like to dry out my tobacco before smoking.
Love me a system pipe. Unfortunately, the non-laminar flow increases condensation increasing moisture build up. This is easily remedied with bending the pipe cleaner and swabbing the chamber after smoking and allowing to dry upside down with the stem out.
