Let the panic buying begin.

It truly sucks but at least I have more tobacco than I can smoke in a lifetime at my current pace...or even triple my current pace.
Same here. I'm glad that I bought what I bought when I bought it.
Of course, there's still HU, until STG buys Kopp. And there's still GH&Co and SG, until STG buys them. And then there's Germain's, until...

This is where my mind went. SG is still with us, even if their management is kinda weird, and Kopp is around, even if they’re undergoing changes in management as well.

I enjoy a number of Sutliff products, but just because they’ll be potentially manufactured at a different facility that doesn’t necessarily mean that the blends will be worse. And if these blends go away, I still have access to other producers that make good stuff for reasonable prices.

All that said, I’ve done a pretty good job of building and stocking my cellar over this past year, and may well have enough to last me the rest of my expected lifespan. So it’s not yet the end of the world. For me.

But I may grab a few pounds of Sutliff blending tobacco over the next few months, just to hedge the bet…

Depends on where they are sourcing their tobacco. If the loss of Sutliff is as big as it's sounding, many raw producers may go under as well.

Well, I only have 10 years worth at my current rate, which could easily fall to 3-5 years if I can get more free time.

Unfortunately, I don't have the money at the moment to stock up on pounds of Mac Baren HH Burley Flake or Navy Flake. :(

It's dark days.

Also, I have to apologize for getting back into pipe tobacco. You see, I am severely cursed. Anything and everything I enjoy dies after I've had just long enough to fall in love with it. It's my fault.

Hey Embers, have you smoked Mixture 79 after years in the tub? I’m curious if it still tastes good after 5-10 years.

I am also wondering if Sutliff blends will be produced at the factory they are moving MacBaren to.
Do you mean 'hey members'? or were you talking to 'embers'? I will answer anyway. Your aged mix 79 will have a reduced topping flavour, which possibly works in its favour if you find it a bit much fresh.
