I wouldn't call it an emotional attachment. I just don't care for shows which takes the original source material and throw it in the trash can. That's probably why I dislike when a character's race and gender is changed just to make a show "inclusive". For example, when the producers/directors for Marvel decided to change Nick Fury to a black man. The origin of Nick Fury was in "Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos" - a series taking place in WWII. He was later featured in the Marvel series like Fantastic Four as the leader of a C.I.A. type organization - S.H.I.E.L.D.I can understand that if you have an emotional or whatever type of attachment to the original show as he certainly is a sad depressive sack in the new one.
And then there is Capt. Marvel. Originally a male character designed to compete with Superman. The Hollywood "woke" crowd decided they needed a strong, female superhero so all of a sudden Captain Marvel had gender reassignment to become a female.
