My wife has taught a continuing ed course for Duke University taking students to local coffee roasters.
She visited and wrote about roasters in the NYC area as well for a major daily. Our current favorite,
available online, is Muddy Dog roasters in Morrisville, N.C. We favor their darkest, strongest beans,
Ethiopian Harrar, French Roast, and Chatham Street. Muddy Dog is a man and his wife who really have
a feel for the beans. My wife does French press, or I do it to revive her awake in the morning, and I
insist on stove-top perc, which to me is the way coffee was meant to be brewed. Other good roasters
hereabouts are Larry's Beans and Counter Culture Coffee. I think they all ship online orders. Another
favorite beverage, along with P&G Tips black tea, is chamomile tea, which for some reason doesn't sedate
me at all, but is intensely thirst quenching.
