Sorry to Say but this Ad is Deceptive.

This ad appeared this afternoon on this forum and also on Pipes and Cigars home page.

I just called to order and they insisted on charging me the same price they have had posted for weeks. I got some run-a-round about it already being a discounted price. They would not give me the 20% off. The ad it totally deceptive. They have made what was a very happy customer and made him into a very unhappy customer.

Couldn't agree more, but this is in the wrong section. Anyway, I've ordered precisely once from P&C, to get some John Bull pouches I couldn't find elsewhere. That said, I've heard horror stories about them, so I'm not one to tempt fate. Smokingpipes and Tobaccopipes pretty much cover anything I'll ever need, in any case. I'm glad I did make the one order, though, because I get their catalogue indefinitely now. Great material for on the crapper, for sure! ?

Yeah, that's a little desperate. I've had mostly good experiences with P&C, but I've read the complaints. SP misspoke in an ad one time, when I ordered a tin to get another tin free, and they acknowledged the mistake and made good on the offer. SP sets a good example and sets the bar high. Another time SP brought a pipe to a pipe show on spec to save me shipping. That's building a customer base.

This is not surprising, always put off by their marketing techniques and customer service. Go out of my way to buy from other retailers. Still significantly cheaper than the order for SWR I placed from 4noggins yesterday.
Wish smokingpipes would do the "bulk" sales of Prince Albert, etc. in 2oz increments so I could use them for everything.

I've made a few orders and have never had any issues with P&C thus far, but I've read many complaints about them. They often have excellent pricing on tobacco.

I've not had any troubles with them either. The SP website is just much better, plus their CS is unmatched so most of my money is directed in that direction.

On topic, advertising a sale for a normal price is definitely not legal in Canada. I don’t think I’d press the issue with the authorities, though. No point in directing the Eye of Sauron to online tobacco retailers, even the dishonest ones.

P&C deceptive? You mean the company that regularly makes a sale, takes your money, and then backorders the blend? The company that offers terrible customer service, even if you can get someone on the phone? That company? You don't say.

Gotta love these 'off topic' thread heros. P&C has unfortunately many people unhappy with their daily practice of bad packaging and unfilled orders. This wont help.

It's possible the person you spoke to had no idea, and in order to get the offer you NEED to order via the website.
It's not uncommon over here or in any other country I've lived in. What I've done is point out that their website says otherwise and they usually match the online offer in the B&M (not talking about tobacco, could be anything from clothes, to tickets to food). Some places refuse to do it though, you have to go through the website.
