Changes just wreak chaos, in discussing tobaccos, and this is what we are here for, right? If it pisses in your corn flakes to have someone point these things out, then I say grow some thicker skin. Or, go find an echo chamber and pat each other on the back.
My point was simply an innocuous observation that I have nothing to compare current famous blends to the same blends of old because I am too new to pipe smoking. Perhaps this enables me to enjoy one of these adulterated blends where those with the memories of the blend when it was better can't. = Sometimes ignorance is bliss.

My whole life so far; I don't know what I don't know and it doesn't depress me. puffy

I told my kids as they grew up that the i-phone in their pocket can be as useful as a Master's degree in some cases.

You don't know what you don't know until you discover what you don't know and look it up, then you know what you didn't know that you didn't know which makes you just a little less ignorant.

Repeat. puffy

There is a definite benefit to knownothingism. It allows one more satisfaction with what one gets in life and elevates the mediocre to mastery by banishing standards and measures.

I see it in the field I work in. People who have no developed senses happily employ other people who can barely push a button. We broadcast the grotty result into households around the world where others can be entertained by the unchallenging result. And honestly, maybe that's not such a bad thing. If you only get one round in life why not just make it easy to enjoy it? Knowledge brings dissatisfaction.

I’m happily ignorant of most things that I take little interest in. And, 90-95% of the time I speak with a sense of knowing what the hell I’m talking bout. ?☕

I always wonder if sometimes it's not a lose of senses and not the blend. Unless it's every single person that's talked about escudo. That one I am sure changed.
I really think acuity of taste buds is a large variable. When I tried the sage tea my wife brought while smoking, I noticed that every tobacco tasted much better. That was surprising.

I guess that as tobacco is a plant, no blend can be consistent over a long period of time. At the same time one's taste may change. There are things that I love today which I couldn't put in my mouth in the past and vise versa (food and drink). I am also not sure about the branding. It's hard to imagine that someone will keep smoking a blend he doesn't like just because of the name - it might get you to buy a tin, but not much more than that. There are a lot of well known blends which I don't find that great. I will say that for me, Escudo is amazing, regardless of it being different than what it used to be. Don't know, haven't tried it in the past. Maybe I would have liked it less in the past had I tried it. I actually don't care.
