I'm a lurker myself, manly because when is a topic I can say something is already said, and also cause I'm a noob looking for info, how to keep the pipes, or cellaring advice, stuff like that. And now, with the tobacco reviews blocked to all visitors outside USA, I tend to go to the reviews channel if there is something I would like to taste. In the other hand, I will never be interested in something is back to stock, cause I'm from Chile, and getting tobacco is a hard process, so I just go after to the easy to get stuff. Most of the time, I just want a relaxed smoke, tips how to keep my parafernalia, and time to time read/listen to other people opinions.
Tell us what you are smoking, and in which pipes. Have you discovered blends you dislike or those you can't live without? It's good grist for the conversation mill.
Just a thought that might help you with access to certain international websites is a VPN. There are many companies online offering VPN services that would enable you to access geographical restricted sites. Some as little as $5-7/month USD
To respond to the OP I too used to think like that. However after i started my pipe journey I realized some pipers are the solitary type. I also notice the more i am seen doing my daily walks or driving around with a pipe clenched I get a lot more response from people and even a few compliments on the aroma.
Once in my own neighborhood I was smoking Haunted Bookshop in my truck overlooking the bay on a beautiful but windy afternoon a couple passing caught the scent of my pipe. They made a beeline over and the lady complimented the aroma while the gentleman asked me what blend was I smoking. To my surprise the couple had to be no older than mid-thirties. The gentleman confessed he just started getting into pipes and smokes aromatics mainly because that what his father used to smoke and because his fiancée loves the smell.
That brief but positive interaction made me second guess the thought
