Entirely depends on the cigarette and chew market. If they go the way of the dinosaur, pipe smoking will follow them into obscurity.Pipe smoking will never die. Too cool to go away. Others just don't get it.

I would agree except for the fact of pipe smokers being the only smokers who cellar. I know many dedicated cigarette smokers and they don’t have anymore then a few cartons on hand at any given time. Most of us have enough tobacco to keep enjoying pipes well after the fall of the industry.Entirely depends on the cigarette and chew market. Cigar smokers, the RYO crowd, and the chew/snuff folks do as well. Excluding cigars, I have many pounds of all.pipe smokers being the only smokers who cellar.
As long as it is not the government bots watching to see how much tobacco you guys are hoarding.I had to do a search and talk to the admin, but these bots mentioned are a little different from what I knew bots to be. These are web analytical tools to see what people are saying about brands, and some like Google is constantly watching websites like our to index them for searches... which is why it is pretty damned important for people to capitalize the titles of threads. This helps keep pipesmagazine in the top searches for pipe related questions.
But, I still don't see as many bots as this screenshot shows, when I look at them. It still looks like about 99% are just unregistered or non- logged in onlookers.
But, interesting. I didn't know that about different types of bots.

Sometimes it is slow, sometimes it is booming on here. Unfortunately, it booms when someone posts something stupid or controversial that brings out the shark feeding frenzy. When people just want to get real help, or rationally discuss a blend, it gets very slow.
The irony is that when someone posts something stupid that makes the water churn, the very people who wait for these moments will complain that "people shouldn't post things like that."
We have always been like the top 1-2% of pipesmokers on here. Most pipesmokers just come home, pack their favorite apple cinnamon bon bon tobaccos and smoke in the privacy of their homes without participating in any forums or anything else pipe related.
But, Alabama seems to be keeping pipes alive. I see pipesmokers everywhere around here. But, by being one with always a pipe in chock while out and about, I tend to draw the pipesmokers to me.
That's what I do. And I smoke a pipe.I know a guy who cuts his grass with a scythe because it relaxes him and gives him exercise.
Often the most lasting growth start out slight. And slowly pick up speed. Less likely to be a trend. Things like this spread like a virus. From person to person.Pipe smoking is a tiny fraction of what it was, but it’s showing signs of growth, slight but still growth.
Everyone smokes cigars. At least sometimes. It blows my mind how many people smoke a cigar at the tailgate or at weddings or other things like that. Pipe smoking is more interesting just by definition of rarity.I am frequently amazed how many new members post intros. Much more than even the cigar communities.
When I started smoking a pipe last year my wife said to me, "You really are the World's Most Interesting Man."If you're in a group and they ask everyone to say one interesting thing they like. More people will remember who said they smoke a pipe. I've even met people who tell me they think I must be an interesting chap since I smoke a pipe.
Me three. I don't usually like to promote exclusivity but the limited supply of some blends convinced me otherwise.I kinda like this idea.
Case in point... a small group of weirdos.Beep boop beep boop brrrrrr cha Ching <Hello humans, i am here to smoke tobacco pipes and be with humans. Decorum and forum rules prohibit the other things she's said. You have a very polite wife.
It's part of why I like forums so much; they have a comfortable nostalgia about them. They really are an example of the internet before everything was streamlined and optimized to be as attention draining as possible. There are numerous places online to discuss pipe smoking apart from this one, and of course internet message boards are a dinosaur medium. Most people interact on reddit or social media today, the golden age of the Internet forum was probably 2000-2010. Many are gone now due to lack of traffic.
