Ahhhh...the fallacy of relative privation. Something else was worse (a world in which cavemen had to track and kill the dangerous, wild Latakia beast) so we shouldn't ever complain about anything that isn't at least that bad.

The new site is bad compared to the old site. The font is terrible, functionality has been moved around for no good reason, and grey text on white is a horrible look (but so modern!). It's been changed for the sake of change, not to make it better in any way. This may be a modern, first world problem, but it turns out I'm a modern, first world person. So, yeah, I'm going to complain.

Now get off of my lawn!
although we have no idea if it's change for change or what the internal decision making process was. Feel free to complain. But there is a point where it does feel off how ready people including me are to complain. We can complain just as much as people can complain about us complaining.
That said it's better to be complained about then off the radar at least in some cases.

The reason I'm so ready to complain about this is that I did a lot of UI design during my career, and using the new site is like chewing on tinfoil to me. There may have been a valid reason to update the site, but making your user's experience worse to satisfy your business needs is considered a very bad thing. I said this in an earlier post in this thread: I'd have been raked over the coals if I'd have submitted the current design as an update to the previous one.

any chance its a temporary or transitory design. Seems odd to me that it's semi dramatic change and they haven't said anything about it on a forum like this.

Exotic goods made to appear in your mailbox with the push of a button.

Yeah... but what SHAPE is the button? Round is dumb, and square looks prissy. I only like lozenge-shaped ones... And the COLOR... What color is the button? Too bright looks like a kid's toy, and too dark depresses me. And the SPRING PRESSURE? And the SIZE?

THOSE THINGS ARE IMPORTANT TO MY HAPPINESS WHILE ON MY LIFE JOURNEY!!!

Lozenge-shaped buttons are underrated.

I was actually on it when they dropped the new code. It stalled out and made me do the Captcha and I was like "HOLY SHEEET!!! MORE 515, MAYBE ESOTERICA!! OMG OMG OMG!!!"
Alas... ofc it was merely harder to read text and just enough of an aspect ratio change to annoy me... -____-
Of course I should have known right from the off, I'm never that lucky... Lol

I complain about everything these days. It helps prevent constipation.
My cat does complain a lot more when he's constipated. I guess he's on to something. Another thing that helps with that at least from observing cats, is running around the house like you're in the middle of a crisis, and don't forget to look totally crazy when doing it.

I've been removed from public places for that.

Not sure if this is related to the new layout , but I tried to place an order & I can't proceed to checkout .

It says to update my shipping address but then it won't let me do it .

A little frustrating..........

Yeah I thought I recognized you from somewhere. Don't worry I won't share that Youtube video here. I mean out of politeness and also cause Kevin might drop a ban hammer on me (it violates the rules so hard, he'd be like not for the mods).
Must be the time I ran around buck naked flapping my arms and clucking like a chicken with a unicorn mask on my head. Yeah... that one might get us into some trouble.

My only complaint:

There still isn't a filter selection on the smokingpipes site for "Show In Stock Only", so you have to keep fishing around for stuff, rooting through products that can't be bought. That's a PITA.

@swilford, can you make that happen? I promise to buy more!

I found one such filter for tobacco but it's buried so deep I can understand why someone wouldn't find it. From the home page, you have to click on "All Tobaccos". If you click on either Tinned Tobaccos or Bulk Tobaccos it will take you to page showing the brands. But clicking "All Pipe tobaccos" will get you to a page that includes the out of stock filter.
