All estates are still 20% off through midnight tonight (Sunday). Naturally I found an estate that was too good to pass up...I picked up this Ashton Pebble Grain Lovat XX for $148. The ring grain is stunning on this little thing. I’m slightly worried that it won’t be a good smoker as it’s from 2016, barely smoked, and already got sold off. Time will tell, I suppose. Anybody else scoring some sweet estates this weekend?35553556

As soon as I got the email Friday morning I pulled the trigger on a Castello Collection Fiammata diamond shank billiard I had put in and taken out of my cart about ten times. The night before the sale I told myself I could buy it when Smokingpipes gave 15% off on estates again.....and that next morning, the fates said "Buy it....now."3577

Trying hard not to spend any money this weekend, but couldn't ignore this sale, so I sorted the Danish page by ascending price and wound up with this beat up little Stanny for 35 bucks. Been wanting a small Stanwell billiard for ages, but they always get too rich for my blood on the Bay. I love getting estates that are already all spiffied up by people who know what the hell they're doing.

Worry not. Pipes are so personal there's no telling why someone sold it off. Could be something as simple as the wrong chamber size for the previous owner's preferred tobacco. It's hard to go wrong with an Ashton Pebble Grain Lovat.

P-lip Piazzola, nice!

And that Ashton is killer. Got a very similar little Parker lovat that I love - light as a feather and fits in the teeth real nice, that size is where it's at with long-shanked pipes IMO.

@mtwaller, congrats on your new acquisition, I have similar pebble grain lovat here but it has a tad longer mortise area, then In addition I have one canadian ,again pebble grain from Craigs era , at first I was a bit sceptical of these pipes and gotta a do some button shaping jobs on the stems to suit my picky preferences, as for smoking characteristics I was pleasantly surprisied how nicely these did perform right of the bat, dare I say wonderfully, very nice draw, no overheating issues, nothing,so if You can live with the mediocre ? button shaping commonly found on these newer Craigs era Ashtons pipes ,then I'm sure you will be very pleased with your pipe, dependable pipes they are ,love the rustication and that reddish stain.

I’m not even sure you can get true professional restoration done on a quality pipe for $35 !! What a steal - enjoy!
