I got this one. Not sure if I am going to keep it.
I was trying to hold out, but failed.
I was running low on HH Bold Kentucky and was planning on snatching some GH Dark Birdseye while it was in stock. I was about to hit checkout and thought it would look good in the empty slot in one of my pipe racks.
Lucky for me it was delivered while my wife was out.

Quick update bump: good freaking god is this thing nice, Jimmy Craig sure as hell knows how to make a pipe. It’s lightweight, sits like a rock, and every single inch of briar is covered in ring grain, all the way down the shank. The little Lovat stem is absolutely dreamy, I can’t articulate why it feels so good, but it’s just very comfortable. This stem makes me want to sell every other pipe I own and buy a few more Ashton’s. It really is that good.
Draw is wide open and smokes quite well, even with my still fledgling packing technique. No heat on the bowl, no moisture... nada. I haven’t decided what this pipe will be, but I thought I’d take her for a spin with a bowl of Astley’s No. 44. I figure I can’t go wrong with a superb straight VA for starters. What a piece... truly game changing for me. I love my Pete’s but this little Lovat is something else entirely.

That’s a fine looking pipe! Luckily right now I live in an apartment and all my boxes get dropped at the front office. I grab them when my fiancée is away, then subtly place the new pipe up on the shelf. When she asks about the pipe she’s never seen a week or two down the road I say “Oh, that one? Yeah that’s been there for a while, you must’ve just not noticed it. I don’t smoke it often.” ???
P.S. my fiancée is much smarter than me and she surely sees right through my childish charade of innocence and self-proclaimed financial responsibility. I’m not fooling her! But she’s yet to call me out, so...
