It's too cold in the northern prairies lately to properly enjoy a pipe outside (dipping in to the -20's Celsius by the time I'm home from work). It is exceptionally disheartening because I just brought back the whole compliment of Frog Morton blends from Montana and have been itching to try them (especially the cellar which I hear good things about). Sometimes I sneak a smoke in my apartment but I try not to get in to a habit of it and stick to aromatics; even some of the virginias I have come off a bit cigarette-ish in room note. I've actually found Old Dark Fired to have a nice room note though it may only because I am enamored with that flake.
It looks like we may be getting a bit of a reprieve by mid next week, may get in to the single digits on the positive side of the Celsius scale, but in Saskatchewan we are sort of at the mercy of whatever blows through so I'll keep cautiously optimistic.

Might I recommend a space heater and an electric blanket. Keeps you nice and cozy warm while enjoying your pipe. I actually find I get a better feel for a blend in colder weather, and yes Latakia was made for colder weather in my opinion.

I build a good fire in my firepan under the deck and out of the wind. But that 2 week cold snap you talked about was murder.

Not enough Pinion in the world, at its worst temps, to keep you comfortable.

Gee smiegs, guess I will be taking Scotland of the travel itinerary. Probably many more these days. Western Europe is ahead of the states in

its social agenda to be the nanny state.
