Hope it's not synthetic. Occasional ashes and embers coming out of pipe could run a hole on synthetic fabric rather easily. Cotton and wool does better if you brush off soon enough.
Rich velvet with a strong quilted boarder, and a satin lining. The only thing it doesn't like is cat hair.

Telescopes has the real deal. Jeep, yours looks like golf jacket. Sorry to be the spoiler. If you can return it I would. If I can't return it, play golf in it. It has to be a thick velvet, nice wide lapels a really nice maroon color and maybe a purple color. It also needs matching slippers. Next time check with us before buying. We are the experts in these things, don't be afraid to ask these questions. There is not one thing that someone will not know at this site.

Cigrmaster, thanks for the heads up. I know it’s not the ”real deal”. I have looked where I live and couldn’t find anything. The only thing close was a short bath robe at GoodWill, that would have melted also. Not going to buy anything on the internet since sizes vary from area to area. I wear a large normally and here where I’m visiting I wear a 2XL and they fit like a large. This jacket is for everyday wear and smoking. There is a lot of folks here that are interested in pipes and learning the art of smoking them. I can use this as a icebreaker to make it more comfortable for them to approach and ask questions.

My daughter has gotten into sewing and making clothes. I’ll probably have her make a good one, when I find a pattern we can use.

The question of sizing is critical. Of course, most are made in Pakastan. The importance in this is that you must provide exact measurement of you chest, arms, neck, the length you want it off the floor, waist, etc. I also found that you must request that the frogging be included. It just isn't a smoking jacket without the requisite frogging. I also included a tassel belt for the same reason. That said, I am very happy with the quality. And the cost was not that much. There are some great smoking jackets made in Germany, but be prepared to pay the price.

Jeepnewbie that is not a real smoking jacket, just a coat with a logo on it. If you are happy with then all is good but if you were trying for a real smoking jacket you're wide of the target.

I would go onto Amazon and look for smoking jackets and you will see what I am talking about. The amount of velour and the size of the lapels are what gives the smoking jacket the what smoking jacket gives it the smoking jacket it' speciality.

I know what you mean, as I stated before I want one. I went with this for everyday wear. KC is correct it’s a “jacket” with a logo on it.
