I agree, but it will be interesting to see how the cuts are applied. Any smokers that predate the legalization wave were used to ignoring government  disinformation and other propaganda. They may prove harder to sway.
They very well prove harder to sway. All of the issues with smoking tobacco hasn't stopped any of us.

But some, finding out that smoking weed increases the odds of developing dementia, might decide to give it up.
I thoroughly enjoyed smoking boo back in the day, but decided that I didn't want this particular monkey on my back, and gave it up close to 40 years ago. I don't miss it.

I tried it in high school, but preferred alcohol. Then in the military, it just wasn't a thing to consider. Once I was retired, an old vet who was dying of cancer gave me some for back pain. It was legal in WA and I can honestly say that weed is a magical pain killer.

But I live in TN now and so I just deal with back pain the old-fashioned way: Chiropractor, ice, and aleve/ ibuprofen

I don’t know. The stamp on tobacco tins that say “smoking kills” makes me rethink about what to put in my pipe next 🤣🤣🤣

Well, they did it. Law passed for a smoking ban that’s generational. Looks like the black market is fixing to skyrocket in the Maldives.

Anyone born 2007 or later are banned from purchasing tobacco…..

Apparently other countries have proposed such laws.

If a law was passed, less and less tobacco would be imported to that country as the market would shrink. Seems like some people think tobacco is bad for the public health and impose their wishes upon others.

Well, well, looks like we pipe smokers are the last bastion of the rebellious elite, clinging to our unique tobacco rituals while the world bans entire generations from the sacred leaf! With laws like this sweeping in, we’re practically endangered species—cherish those Squadron Leader and Perfection tins, folks, because soon we might just be the last smoky knights standing. What a time to be alive, eh?

With an average hight of just under 5' height above sea level, if God sneezes in that part of the world it would be under water. Lol
edmund fitzgerald was taken out by WAVES,... that place could be taken out by a wave caused by a fart in a bathtub

All countries and cultures have some substances they tolerate and some not like magic mushrooms being legal in Japan in the past, and weed products highly illegal, even John Lennon was arrested there for hash…

But this ban sounds pretty extreme, no tobacco of any type, not even cigars and no vapes either. As for North America Having smoked plenty of grass in the past, cigars and pipes are certainly healthier all around, not cigarettes tho.

Edit; apparently it was Paul McCartney for weed, same thing.

The world is still pretty harsh law wise about cannabis these days
It’s just what’s considered generally acceptable
I still see people smoking tobacco here and there .
As for topic at hand There will probably be a black market for tobacco on the Maldives for whomever is searching
