I wouldn't work for any company that wouldn't let me smoke at work...or any company that forced me to smoke at work...

By the nature of my work, we can smoke at our desks because we need to evaluate products, etc. I'm hoping the advancing restrictions won't eventually take that away, too.

I'm with you there. Unfortunately, some employers are really waging war on tobacco. I think they can refuse to hire you if you're a smoker, even if the only place you smoke is your own house.
I read somewhere that Australia is on a mission to weed out smoking from their armed forces.
Be that as it may, I just updated my LinkedIn profile's photo with one of my holding a pipe in my mouth: if 'potential employers' don't like it I need not bother sending CVs to them.

+ 1 for Olkofri, thats the way to go,I do driving and so far all is good in that matter though I have noticed some companies prefer them drivers shouldn't be smoking in vehicles so that that may be the question of a time how long it takes before one whos is not obeying to employers rule gets fired, some time it would never happen. Then another place where I'm doing my causual driving is our local morticien, then when driving with the client' on board and flag-banners halfway down I think It might be advisable to refrain from smoking my pipe, don't you think?
