I hear TA. Don't smoke inside, hot and humid all day. About 8:30 or 9pm it's okay. I'm supposed to have a pipe club meeting on my deck tonight at 7...probably will still be too hot...

Time to get the ball and chain off your backs boys, especially if you are paying the mortgage. Are you men or are you mice, are you the master of your domain or do you kow tow to the squaw in your life.
I reside in my wife's house :) and I built it for her and I smoke outside and I'm a mouse; how be it a hot pipe smoking mouse but one who lives in a state of marital bliss, at least until she gets home. ;)
FWIW I'd rather set the alarm and wake at 2:00am to smoke a pipe then ever light a stogie.

@All of the above: +100 (degrees)
This is Mint Julep weather. I remember going into a little bar on Royal Street in New Orleans long ago. Evening, about 8:00 PM. I asked for a Mint Julep. LOL, the bar tender refused, advising us to return about 3:00 PM the next afternoon. Said it should be taken as "an antidote" during the hottest part of the day.
We returned and he made us two great drinks, outside of the glass covered with a thin coating of ice. Wow, great education watching him make those, and they really hit the mark in afternoon downtown...
My yada, yada, yada for the day. @ cigarmaster's comments re: "The War Department", as someone called (her).

The listing system does work but doesn't lower the temps 25-30 degrees, more like 15. I live in the desert and its been over 100-112F but dry. The hotter it is the closer to sunset I wait. I get up at 4 and start my day when its 70. Fortunately I have a covered porch which gets me out of the sun. We had real high humidity a few weeks ago and wondered how the hell you guys stand it back east and down south. I hate the hot weather and don't stand up well to it. It just drains me. I long for the cool temps in the fall and winter and can't wait. The coast become me and I'll be there next month for salmon fishing. 65 degrees, aaaahhhhh.

Fortunately, I got my wife started on cigars early on in our relationship. She has no issues smoking in the house. We typically enjoy a smoke together in the evening now that I am on day shift again.
I normally smoke a bowl on the way to work and during lunch; then a fresh bowl on the way home. Its been too hot to do that. The AC in the truck just heats the bowl up beyond what is comfortable to hold. The tobacco does not do well either in terms of taste.
I need to get some small cigars to smoke at lunch.

We buttoned up the house, today, and turned on the air for the first time. I smoked all three bowls outside. When the house is open, and my wife isn't home, I will smoke at my computer, but nowhere else.

I don't do this because I am a mouse, but because my wife is a cancer patient. She was cancer free for 14 years after having stage 4 breast cancer, but last fall it returned, metastasized to the bone. She is now disabled, and will be on chemo the rest of her life. She does pretty well, most of the time, but I am not taking any chances.

'Are you a man or a mouse?'
I am so lucky my wife lets me smoke downstairs, which is air conditioned. She hates the smell, but is tolerant beause I now smoke instead of eat too much.
Friends were supposed to meet at an outdoor restaurant tonight, but we cancelled because of the heat. The restaurant allows us to smoke which is soooo nice, especially in NY area.
I am a mouse, but with a very tolerant wife.
That was really funny, Harris.

This weather is all about the cigars for me. Just way too hot to want to light a bowl right now. 100+ around here everyday. Brutal.

I was born and raised on the Jersey shore, so I know the misery you guys are going through, that's why I moved to Colorado. By late afternoon our humidity drops into the single digits or low teens. Every day is a good day to smoke a pipe in Colorado! :nana:

I don't know what to say to you guys who have no where to smoke indoors, or simply "can't" because your woman just doesn't like the smell. Wanting a clean smelling house, family members and spouses with severe allergies (or as in Jud's case), ummm..., maybe there's a couple more extenuating circumstances that would preclude you from smoking inside when it's 190 degrees outside... But if not... Eh this is more for pipers my age I think... You probably shouldn't "lay down the law" if your wife of 30 years has been doing it for you for the last 20. So... Young pipers...! Better let em know how it's gonna be from the get-go. Don't make any mthrfckng concessions to a woman if you're gonna regret them later. Off topic- but hey, I'm smoking a cigar (due to the heat n' humidity, and I feel a little cocky because of it. 8)... :nana:

Yeah, I feel the same way!! No matter which blend I try it seems like it's just too damn hot to smoke. Now, smoke coming from the BBQ/Smoker THAT'S a different story all together! lol.
I enjoyed a nice smoke on the patio tonight as the sun went down. I had a big tankard full of homemade sweet tea, and I had my Brigham Chinook packed up with some MacB's VCF and a little OGS in a 50/50 mix. It wasn't bad but it would be alot better if this humidity was gone! I don't mind 40C weather, but I mind it when the humidex is 40C!

True have to admit the smokes haven't been all that satisfying but I found some shade last night and that improved things quite a bit.

@Jud -
I can empathize with you. My late wife was diagnosed with acute myelocytic leukemia at age 34, just as we were getting ready to leave the rat race here in NJ and move back to Texas.
After 3 congestive heart failures (due to decreased heart function as a side effect of the chemotherapy, she eventually qualified for a heart transplant. Although we had divorced for other reasons after this 12-year battle with cancer and heart issues, I was happy for her that she was going to be able to return to a much more active life once again after the transplant, and I wished her well.
She died just two days after a successful transplant due to a massive stroke triggered by the new heart that pumped so much better that it ruptured a brain artery/vblood vessel(?)
I certainly give you a lot of credit for hanging in there with this, and your wife? She's just a blessed gem!

I came across this in a news story today about the relentless heat hanging over the Northeast and other areas:
"Daily Show" reporter John Oliver summed up the misery with a joke: "On my way to work this morning, I saw a squirrel stab a pigeon over a piece of ice."

Yeah, same story here on the West Coast. Been pretty humid here in Los Angeles lately, so, I usually have to smoke in the early mornings, or after sunset when things cool down a bit. I was in Palm Springs last week and even there the humidity was unbearable, especially considering it was 115 degrees during the day!
Can't wait for Fall.
