I enjoy the flavour, but I haven't smoked any in years. I recently scored a tin from 2010 that I am hoping to try very soon. I would probably dedicate a small pipe to it if I had a large quantity but for now I will probably just smoke it in a cob or meerschaum.

I've never smoked aged 1792 but I would absolutely love to. Same with Ennerdale. I'm buying in 250/500g quantities but sadly it will take me 10 years to be able to try it with some age unless I get lucky.

Maybe pull out one ribbon and show it to my pipe , that's far enough

They say it is heavily aromatic, like tonka bean. Is that true? I have been putting off that blend for this exact reason ... I don't like tonka.

1792 has tonka bean on it and some people don't like it. You may also experience a heavy nic hit. That's why they have different tobaccos. You really need to dry the stuff to get it to light okay. I really like it and generally prefer it in one pipe rather than mixing it up.

Is 1792 the highest nicotine , or is there something higher ?

Smoking my 1st bowl as we speak. Newer tin, maybe 5 months since I bought it. Absolutely present on the tonka note but it is my 1st bowl,I have to smoke the tin fully to truly comment otherwise. Not really strong on the nic to me but Old Joe Krantz is my daily. I also smoked Five Brothers earlier.
Oddly it dried quick and is effortless to keep it lit. That part is kind of still throwing me off to be honest and I may double down on it after this bowl.

There are blends with more nicotine. Royal Yacht has more, I think. Maybe Irish Flake also. Those I know. Then there are the twists and ropes, but I haven't tried those.

I finished my 1st bowl last night and had to brush my tongue repeatedly to get the cologne taste out.

I will finish the tin however to verify that I do stupid things.

Commodore Flake,

University Flake, Irish Flake,

1792

Dark Flake, Black Rope

Brown Rope
All of these are full-bodied. As you down the blends get stronger. Those on the same line are equal but the second a bit stronger.
When I got to Dark Flake the strength made me say "uncle," but I liked that.
1792 tasted more aromatic when I first smoked but then just dark and spicy. Never tried Lakeland Dark as it wasn't sold in bulk.

I stopped smoking pipes for many years but had cellared about 50 tins back in the early 2000s. I just cracked a tin of 1792 that I bought in 2005 and am smoking it in a Brebbia horn. All I have to say is Wow! It aged perfectly well and is amazing.

I need to give this one another go. I over dried a flake on my first attempt and it just crumbled into powder in the bowl. It really didn't provide much flavor. Didn't taste terrible. But, I ended up dumping the bowl and moving on. I'll dry it the next time. But, not for an entire day
