I'm in the group that can't do both at the same time. I have never been much of a clincher, walking while holding a pipe doesn't work, I don't enjoy either because I am thinking too much about managing my pipe. I go for a walk then come home and sit for a smoke. Works for me!

funny enough i can only smoke one pipe while walking and that's my Morgan bones apple pipe. I use it mostly for peach aromatics and find it to be easy on the draw and clinch. I will say that getting the rhythm was an effort, from knowing when to puff or rest.
I'd suggest using a light pipe with some shortness to it. use a blend that doesn't mind being burned a little faster, and learn to not puff while walking. Just clinch and breath out your nose and you'll gradually get smoke in your mouth. The hard part is trying not to breath in through your mouth as you'll get some pretty harsh smoke in you throat and lungs.

One trick that might help. Is set out for a longer walk with a smaller chambered pipe. And set a goal to smoke slowly enough to have at least a few minutes of time to sit and smoke before you go in. As in literally give yourself less pipe then the walk should handle. And then try and milk the smoke as much as you can. I have a fourty some minute walk before work and will sometimes choose a pipe like a falcon which has a smaller chamber.
Also clench and don't draw intentionally. Just let the pipe sit in your mouth only letting it out of your mouth when it's full.
The thing is both really combine to create a better state and promote a thoughtful and relaxed state of mind and body. To not be able to do both in my mind is a form of missing out on one of the finer things in life.
