If you like milk and honey try http://www.4noggins.com/cornell-and-diehl-bulk-hebraica-series-halav-u-dvash-milk-and-honey.aspx, . it has plenty of nicotine

I'm weird in that I like stronger blends in the morning and I gradually get lighter as the day goes. Most often my last smoke of tthe day is Carter Hall

I do enjoy the AM Vita-N kick in the arz to start my day, so here are my favs for that;

Peterson's IF & UF

SG's 1792 or Bracken

C&D's Night Train or Morning Drive or Bow-Legged Bear

Solani's ABF

MB's ODF

Dunhill's EMP or Flake
All these blends go great w/cup of coffee

Peterson's Irish Oak and a cup of coffee are perfect together in the morning. Although most Saturday's I like my PS LBF in my Saturday morning cob.

I had dabbled with a pipe for several years, but never achieved much in the way of smoking satisfaction and kept gravitating back to the cigarettes ... UNTIL
I got a quality pipe and put quality tobacco in it ... once that happened, I found it remarkably easy to discard the cigs and really enjoy a better alternative ... I've not taken a puff on a cig in close to 40 years.
As for your actual question (morning smoke) I'm not sure my answer is what you're looking for, but for what it's worth, I'm looking for smoking satisfaction, morning, noon or night ... and once I've identified the blend(s) that accomplish that, I don't differentiate based on time of day ... my suggestion is that you identify those blends that produce satisfaction for you, then roll with those at whatever time of day or night it happens to be.

I'm with you on that 100% SteveS. Actually, it's probably more like 99%. I don't smoke heavy English blends while the sun is up unless I'm in some kind of weird mood.

I start my day with a milder VA Flake such as Dunhill Flake, Wessex Gild Virginia Flake, F&T Cut Virginia Plug and the like. I then move up to darker Va flakes, and then a Vaper or a Vabur always going up the strength ladder as the day goes on. I find a mild sweet smoke in the morning wakes up my taste buds for the rest of the day. I hardly ever eat breakfast so a strong nicotine laden blend is not something I want when I am having my coffee in the am.

Okay, I feel better now knowing that Harris and I are opposites (well, at least in the mornings).
You can color me boring. Every morning, seven days a week, I make coffee and while its brewing I load up a pipe with 1/3rd bowl Murray's era Dunhill Royal Yacht and top it off with 2/3rds Five Brothers. Once the coffee is in the cup I alternate sips between the coffee and the pipe. Wakes me right up! :puffy:

I like something like Haddo's Delight or Grousemoor and a strong cup of Josephus Daniels.

However; one of my guilty pleasures with that cup o' Joe, is that plug of Haddo's Delight dottle that's been drying overnight, à la Sherlock Holmes.... Mmmmm that'll wind your watch and kick you out the door.

Steve, yes you are boring and you have the constitution of a goat. I would puke all over myself if I smoked what you do on an empty stomach, that is one strong morning blend my friend. I suppose you drink Turkish coffee as well.

I think I may be a little strange here in that I like stronger blends in the morning and then I move on to milder blends as the day goes on. I usually end the day with something quite mild like CH. That being said, I'm a nic wimp so I still don't go for anything too strong.

Whatever it is, it has to pair with strong black coffee!

If I'm smoking in the morning I'll tend to choose GLP Fillmore (only Va/Per blend I've tried so far) or a light English. EMP is probably a good example, but I actually have yet to try it. The current blend on hand that fits the bill is Squadron Leader. Ashton Consumate Gentleman also comes to mind.

Though the Westminster/965 and coffee combo is always attractive.

I have smoked early morning pipe a lot with coffee, but lately I have really enjoyed a bowl for PS English oriental supreme, which I find smooth and delicious with coffee. I can't choose between that and PS luxury twist flake today, decisions, decisions. :puffy:
