On my Rossi, I stripped the lacquer off of it due to it chipping. I never waxed or polished it since. But I put nose oil on it occasionally to give it a shine.

If I have to choose between natural and synthetic, I prefer to hit my pipe with something more natural.I am very concerned about synthetic products that can have a negative effect on the taste and aroma of the pipe and tobacco. I have no experience with briar pipes, so I have no authority to give an opinion. But honestly, I would use beeswax or carnauba wax, as described by other colleagues.
