I finally decided to see what the Dunhill hype was all about.
Here is my Shell Briar size 4 from 1963. Stamping is pretty worn, had to put it under a magnifying glass to figure it all out, but it smokes well anyway.

This is a Dunhill ODA 806 F/T from 1971. Over the years, it's gotten pretty dull. I forgot to take before pictures but the first pic is a pretty good recreation. I decided to refinish it, but achieved more of the tone of the late 80's rather than the bright magenta of the 70's. I'm pretty happy with it.

Just Picked this up, 1967 (birth year) Tanshell Bulldog. Everything is relative, at the same time i grabbed this i spent $400 on a box of 1998 bachilleres Cuban cigars that will be gone when they are smoked, this pipe will outlive me.

I was shocked.

a few years ago i was looking for a birth year and Dunhill prices were 4 and 5 times what they are today, suppose there are a lot of people that need the money out there.

This one is so nice o don’t even know if I’m going to smoke it.

My birth year Dunhill. It’s an 1985 Bruyere 4202. Got it last month, and cleaned it up a bit. We’ll see how it smokes tonight ?

I have been keeping my eye out for a sixties Dunhill to replace my year 2000 Shell I sold because I wasn't a big fan of the jet black finish. Recently I came across this shape 48 Root Briar from 1963. I was mostly looking for a regular bent billiard but I fell in love with this one and got a good price. Also adds some variety to my collection because I sold my only bulldog a while ago.

FWIW, although it took me rather a long term to begin to appreciate bulldogs as a classic English shape, the 48 is one of my favorites too.

Here’s my one and only Dunhill, a “Root” Oom Paul. I had to have at least one in my collection…. It’s a fairly good smoker, but my upper end Italian pipes such as Ardor, Castello, Caminetto, Volkan, etc put it to shame. Even some of my pipes in the sub $200 range outshine the Dunhill. Still, it is a gorgeous pipe!

Acquired an unsmoked 2001 Group 6 Cumberland Cherrywood (6120), my first Dunhill.

I have read on SP that it is a fairly rare pipe in a few of their sold ads, they allege "New or estate, you could count all the examples we've seen on one hand".

Yet, the previous owner had it in his collection as a duplicate he had never smoked. He also had the Group 5 variant, along with another 30 Dunhills.
