Over the years I have found several nice pipes that were non branded. Obviously not seconds with fills or void of grain. Shown are two smooth stamped straight grain made in England. Maybe just did not sell well from high end makers and sold bulk for shop brands ? Top smooth has a oval bore , next extra thick wall, nice blast unusual shape.

Comoy’s Straight Grains and Selected Straight Grains are commonly unbranded, and stamped minimally

These were pipes intended for their top of the line “Supreme Grain“ (above the more vaunted Blue Riband line)
They were relegated because some flaw (often minuscule and unnoticeable) was found prior to stamping

True bargains

One of the best I’ve seen is a no-name sandblasted straight billiard owned by one of the guys on the forum here. His name escapes me but it was something like pipefromappalachia29.

This pipe, I call it MMBB, mystery manufacturer bent billiard. It is some British second, "Made in London". This pipe is my best long smoke. Better than my Savinelli 616. It has a fill smaller than a rice grain on the opposite side of the shank.

Bought this one from Blue Room Briars a while back. Only marking on it is a stamp on the bottom of the shank that says “Made in London, England”.
if we could see the stamp, I bet someone could figure out which maker was behind it.

I also have an otherwise unmarked "Super Deluxe" prince shape. I'm away from my pipes and don't have a photo of it at the moment. It's a favorite smoker, but never have been able to figure out who made it.

Everybody and his brother and uncle and cousin copied a Custombilt Squat Chubby Bull Moose, but this one has no name on it. Likely because it’s full of fills and was stained dark reddish brown to try and cover the putty.

But it’s a dynamite good smoker, because of that hard to work, gnarly old Algerian briar.

Who made it is a mystery, but it looks very much like my three Lee Custombilt Squat Chubby Bull Moose copies and the stinger and rear tenon are Lee type and the mortise is Briarlee type.

A dainty cased Belge bought a few years ago from Ken Barnes who opined it was a very early Charatan from its shape and size
Pure speculation, of course, because of its complete lack of stamps

And a gourd calabash stamped “Austria”.
Andrea Bauer is an educated guess because of the distinctive briar ferrule.
Otherwise an (unknown) Austrian gourd manufacturer whom Bauer used as its source

Any help identifying this one would be greatly appreciated!
I don't recognize the shape, but that stamp looks like something out of the Charatan factory. Does the tenon look similar to this? If yes, it would also lead me to believe it came from Charatan.
