I guess my rack is tiny by comparison to some of these magnanimous and beautiful collections, but I only started smoking in March, So I guess it's a good start

The Rack is hand made wood in Egypt and the stand is natural leather made for Black Swan Shoppe

Here's my latest attempt/experiment. I'm trying out ideas I've stolen from various other forum-featured pipe racks: sideways orientation, leaning pipes, divider style separators. I'm going for stability here after knocking a nice Canadian out of a Decatur style rack (hole at the top for the stem and routed oval at the bottom for the bowl) and breaking the tenon.
There's nothing pretty about this one. It's just recycled oak (mostly old flooring). I haven't even varnished it yet. Heck, the glue isn't even all dry yet. If the idea aids stability, I'll incorporate the ideas into large cabinet I'm planning.
The forum tells me it's been a year (or more) since I posted that, but now it's finished and screwed to the studs:

This incarnation is cherry, walnut, oak (ply backing) and bamboo (pegs).In all it could hold 80 pipes. Please don't look too closely at the workmanship.

The 1st 3 shelves have been restored by Dave G. Plus the top racks. In the last year. When he can get feelings back in his hands, we might start the next round. :lol:

I mounted an ammo can in the garage and built this easy rack to slide inside. Works well but I think I'll put a few holes in it and remove the rubber gasket on the lid to allow some air to flow through it. I like closing the lid when my kid is in the garage with me.

Nice thread. Now I need to start at the other end of it.
If I can find my ancient history pics, I will post a pic of the balsa pipe rack and hardwood smoking tray I made while I was in Nicaragua on a construction job. I had to leave them there, but I think I have pics somewhere. A 1" thick balsa board is a neat thing...

Great thread!
Lots of really great ideas and superb craftsmanship.
I've posted these on another thread, but thought I'd throw a couple of my setup on here.

@missionpipe,
The author shape looks to me to be a Savinelli 320KS, but the others appear to be Peterson's?
Regardless, damn fine lookin stable of briars there!

@bonanzadriver
Thanks. From Left to Right; Peterson Donegal Rocky XL 90; a very old, over reamed and out of round Peterson System Standard 307, originally sandblasted, but damn near worn smooth; Rossi Lucca 8320 EX; newer, rusticated Peterson System Standard 307; Savinelli Trevi 616; Peterson Darwin B42 and a Savinelli Oscar Dry.
How long did it take to assemble your collection and cellar? Very impressive.
