That's certainly true of the lighter coloured Morettis. The wood seems softer, and I had a couple of "burn/char" spots in the horn-stemmed squat billiard. Luckily it was easily fixed with some pipe-mud.

The 2 Davorins are altogether denser and the wood seems a lot harder than the Morettis, so I'm guessing older morta with a higher mineral content.
