I have a similar drawer. Some real ugly pipes. They sully the good name of smoking. Many of them were gifts from around the world, but a few of them were my own impulse buys.I have a drawer in my smoking desk where all my stupid pipe purchases go to languish in shameful idleness until I decide their ultimate fate. For now they have been un-piped, so they don't count.
So, all my pipes smoke well and look good and there really is neither a favorite nor a least favorite among them.
Snowmen prefer cob pipes. ?This POS Butz-Choquin. Worst stem I’ve had yet. Damn thing would get clogged on air. It pulled snowman duty last year, and will again this year. Dog also got ahold of it.

Wow, it looks like a question mark, and therefore, it'd be right at home at the end of a sentence such as, "Why the hell would anyone design a pipe this way?"Absolute piece of garbage. But somebody brought it back from Kenya as a gift for me. I’m actually afraid of this pipe.View attachment 107922
Is that a pipe or a medical torture device??? Holey moley...Absolute piece of garbage. But somebody brought it back from Kenya as a gift for me. I’m actually afraid of this pipe.View attachment 107922
Seems to me that the pipe may have been intended as a souvenir and show piece rather than for practical use. For reasons of safety I'd have been disinclined to actually use this pipe from the outset as they're often handmade from repurposed scavenged or harvested bits that may be unsuitable for use in smoking.Absolute piece of garbage. I have two of the MM Freehand pipes. One if from the 1970's and smokes wonderfully, not so much with the new one. The design change didn't transfer well. This Molina is my least favorite briar. It's just hideous. I have two other Molinas that look and smoke great so nothing against the brand.View attachment 108021
My least favorite cob is my freehand. It just doesn't smoke as well as my other cobs. View attachment 108034
I believe that wasn't supposed to be a pipe. That was used to do enemas. I can't imagine that used as a smoking utensil, unless your ass smokes. Perhaps you could use it to replace bad plumbing under the sink.they're often handmade from repurposed scavenged or harvested bits that may be unsuitable for use in smoking.
I’ve always thought it looked more like a pipe wrench than a pipe!I believe that wasn't supposed to be a pipe. That was used to do enemas. I can't imagine that used as a smoking utensil, unless your ass smokes. Perhaps you could use it to replace bad plumbing under the sink.
My FIL was a missions pastor, he traveled the world a great deal, & we have missionary friends who are regularly all over the world. I’ve no doubt many of my “gift pipes” are from bazaars or street side lean-to shops. I wouldn’t dare smoke them. I did get a nice-ish hookah from Nairobi, Kenya once. Like a real one, packaged & all. Not some mystery made construction project from the Kibera slums. Just never really enjoyed hookahs, & never got the hang of it.Seems to me that the pipe may have been intended as a souvenir and show piece rather than for practical use. Good to know I'm not the only one that noticedI have two of the MM Freehand pipes. One if from the 1970's and smokes wonderfully, not so much with the new one. The design change didn't transfer well.
