I reached out to Patrick Blatter (Robert Blatter is his uncle) and he asked his uncle to confirm what his Dad had told him. These pipes date to roughly the mid to late sixties. The stampings are part of a pricing system that existed at the time. This is before they started to mark their pipes “2 89” (for example, 2nd pipe made in 1989).
This pre-dates when they started properly stamping their pipes:
S = 10$
7 = 5$
So your pipe was made back in the good ol’ days, and it was $30.00 then. That would be roughly $290.00 in today’s dollars.
That seller is really terrific. I bought my most recent Blatter pipe from her and I love it. Great little find for you, Sir!

Went to Blatter & Blatter yesterday to pick up a cigar and I spotted a pipe. I wasn't necessarily looking for a pipe right now, so I went home and thought about it a bit. But today, I went back and checked it out. A sandblast, which is really rare for Blatter. I think maybe they were experimenting a bit. I looked at this pipe and they had another smooth Canadian as well with beautiful grain, but I preferred the bowl size on this one - a bit narrower, yet bigger than my other Canadian from them. Can't wait to take it for a test drive!
They deserve much more recognition than what they are getting. There's no question about it.

Made it. Grabbed a cheaper pipe I'll post pics of, it spoke to me. Lol
They had a couple nice nosewarmer pots under the counter that were quite different from what I usually see by them. They caught my eye as well.

Nice choice! I saw that one when I was there. I said to Patrick that it made me think of the Jeckyll & Hyde pipes. I liked the shape and the saddle stem. Enjoy!
I almost bought a fat one he had but saw the smaller one with the saddle stem and grabbed it instead.
