Joshwolftree, there is no such thing as blasphemy when it comes to pipes. If your Dr Grabow is a great smoker for you then that settles it . No criticism. Your judgement is the only one that counts. :puffpipe:

My top smokers would be my Stanwell Naval Series Admiral #62, a bent Dublin Plateau dedicated to Virginias (right column, topmost)

and my Vauen Fashion #162, dedicated to English blends (left column, middle). The rest in the pictures are the others that I love (just as much!) ;-)

There are some good looking pipes in here. For me, my best smoker is my Churchwarden McKie pipe or my first pipe (when the stem is fixed). I've got a good unbranded pipe about the size of your fist that is great too. The custom pipe is very well made and everything lines up. I think that's what makes it such a good smoker. if I can find some time I'll post pictures later.

This is seriously difficult to say the least, I could easily pick 2 cobs, 2 meerschaum's, 2 Morta and more briars than I care to think about! In keeping with your post I'll choose
This one by Rainer Barbi

This one by Anne Julie

but still a tough call.......

It's not the best looking pipe I have (it even has a fill), but this Briar Workshop pipe makes both VA's and Latakia blends sing, which I didn't expect. It took a lot of cleaning up when I bought it, but now I know why -- it smokes great.

This Kai Nielsen might also be a candidate for one of my best smokers. I just got the 9mm adapter for it and tried it out today -- perfect flake burner, so far.

I know Storient has been an infamous topic of late, but that looks like a nice meer from here.
That Stanwell Jubilee, above -- is that the Anne Julie designed #35 (I think that's the number) -- if so, I'm curious how you like it. I love the look, but have never had one in hand. Congrats on scoring a somewhat scarce shape.
bigvan, I see you have a "Liminal Canadian" -- I've only seen the one on Gracik's site, but I really like that shape. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that it smokes like a champ as well.
Lots of cool pipes, here. Keep 'em coming.

Tough call, but it would have be these two. My Upshall EX:

And this Ashton:

Size does matter, is my conclusion.

Pitchfork, don't know her shapes, I have her book but nothing is listed nor is the shape number on the pipe, it has amazing line and birdseye top and bottom and smokes extremely well enough to be in my top two which says a lot.

fishnbanjo,
I was referring to the Stanwell Jubilee that samcoffeeman posted (which may be a Julie design or else an Ivarsson design), but your Julie-made pipe is gorgeous. What are its dimensions? I don't much care for her latest pipes with their odd textures and whatnot, but yours is fantastic. I'll have to be on the lookout for her book -- is it in English?
dukdalf, I think that's the best grain I've ever seen on an Ashton. I have no doubt that one is a great smoker.

Since my last post I have added some great pipes and honestly it is hard to pick just one, so here are a few.

The reason they are favorites is because they all smoke cool and dry, never need a pipe cleaner for excess moisture and have incredibly comfortable stems.

Sorry about that mea culpa. My Anne Julie is 5" long, 1 5/8" tall, the bowl OD is 1 1/2" with an ID of 3/4" and 1 1/4" deep. Her book is written in Danish, Norwegian and English. Regards.....

Here's my latest best smoker, a Dunhill ODB 835 f/t hands down the finest pipe I own. Super lightweight - almost feels like balsa wood in the hand, smokes like a meer, very dry, but with more flavor.

Harris - that is one fine looking pipe (actually all of them are, but that one really catches my eye).
