Just re-read your post. I also just saw white lettering on a Pete for the first time. This one's also odd in that it has a 'hand cut'-stamped stem, but was made at the London factory, so there goes the 100% Larrigan/'Hand Cut' thing. I've magnified the lettering and everything points to it being original. Hard to tell, but there was also originally white lettering in the 'Hand Cut' stamp. I polished some of it off, unavoidably due to oxidation. Adding to the confusion, it also has the 'X' stamp.

My other theory is that these are 120V AC self lighting pipes.

Pulled the trigger on another rare Pete- 999 Dingle
After the devastation from getting outbid, two weeks in a row, on a great eBay lot that included a DR Dunhill and a River Series Peterson, among other curiosities, I knew I had to do some shopping therapy and get a special pipe for myself.
Here are some screenshots and as soon as I restore it it, I will post proper photos.
Any info on the series would be greatly appreciated, since I can’t find anything so far.

This pipe doesn’t get enough attention, because I just like bent Petes more… It's not a straight grain but hey Flame Grain is also cool.

It is just the perfect shape - I don't even have to clench it, it just hangs. Now I just have to find a Barley...
Just made new stem for this Republic era Deluxe 36 Liverpool. This is the first time I’ve ever cut a Fishtail for a Peterson but I think it fits this pipe.
I wondered what that weird thing was on the end of the stem.

Nothing fancy, but I picked up my first system pipe today. It’s a 302, pretty hefty and very comfortable. I went to the shop for a sandblast but it was gone, I think this might be my first smooth pipe purchase too. Looking forward to trying the classic!
