Wrapping up a fine Memorial Day on the back porch with Nutmeg smoking a pipe I purchased last month from ‘Mystic Ken’ Sigel : a fellow Pete Geek. :sher:
It is a sandblasted 2013 release Peterson Antique reproduction of the 1905 “Pat”.
Information about pipe below pics.

I have the last of two MacBaren tins that I combined. A tad windy as the sun sets here in the west so I put on a wind ‘cap’.
Great way to end the day.puffy

I didn't know Ken was here. He is in the pipe club I joined last year, although I haven't met him yet. I purchased several pipes from him in the fall. No Petes though.

I’m trying so hard not to panic right now… could someone enlighten me about what exactly did I just buy… I mean I know what it is, but I always skipped the patent era on pipedia because I never thought that I will hold one in my hands. Is this the original stem?

I’m pretty certain that’s the Patent System Commemorative oom paul from 1990. With a aftermarket stem of some sort.

I haven't seen those anywhere so I might have overpaid a bit, but the stem is not that big of a deal - I have. around 20 peterson's stems laying around, one of them should fit. From what I can find they are very similar to the system standard ones. Any guesses on the value of the pipe with a proper stem?

With the original stem and box and paper work they are not cheap. I’ve seen several sell 200-300 dollars. I don’t think the stem in it is bad looking at all I would just smoke it as is personally. I do believe the original stem comes with a chimney which only come on deluxes and premiers.

Yep, definitely a 1990’s Patent commemorative reissue, and definitely not a Peterson stem. System standards all use approximately the same taper, so any system standard stem of close size should suffice.

Except I found that current production diameter is narrower than the older ones. I ordered new stems to possibly replace some of the older ones but that didn't work out.

That seems to be more true of the acrylic stemmed system pipes. They are a smaller diameter but do still use an approx 1.98 degree taper for system standard style stems.
