My Lestrade are small pipes. I have 2 rusticated and the Smooth. On average, they're 41mm high and 45mm wide. They are closer to the 03 shape than the XL02.
Yet, they were advertised at 46-48mm high and 50mm wide. That's a significant difference and it's just disappointing, really.
My XL 02 walnut spigot's bowl is smaller than my Lestrade but holds more tobacco. The Lestrade is a bit shallower. Also tends to clog too dang often.

Here are a couple Pete’s. These are big Pipes. No shape codes but they are bigger than a 309. Both are Pre-Republic and both are Made in England.

The bottom pipe is also interesting because it has a Deluxe Cap and Stem, but is stamped System. I have other pipes from the era that are Deluxe and they are stamped “Deluxe”.

Right in the middle of testing out some performance work I recently did, I see a big brown truck pull into my driveway. I got all excited like a kid on Christmas because my dracula was about to be in my hands!!! I've never hit a killswitch as fast as I did when I saw him (teehee 🤭)

I remember reading reviews about this pipe and a guy said pictures don't give it much justice. Well I couldn't agree more!! Definitely a beautiful pipe. And smokes just a good as it looks!!

I just noticed the 'Made in Ireland' stamp on both my Lestrade seem to have the year of production included in the middle. '2025', which I deduct is the year it was made. I really don't see what else it could mean.
Anyone lese has noticed this on their Petes?

Peterson started this new date stamping this year, I believe. I recall reading/hearing this somewhere (maybe PPN) a while back.

Anyone notice the smooth and sandblast are vulcanite, but the rusticated are acrylic?
Wouldn't surprise me if that were incorrect and they are all vulcanite

With much respect to Laudisi, I do notice that with their Peterson offerings there is a lot of copy/paste when it comes to pipe specs.

I get it, they sell a ton of Petes and heck they own the company

But for a pipe nerd it is a bit of a letdown to order say a pot with advertised 20+mm chamber and have an 18mm show up

I was recently asked to photograph my collection, so reluctantly I started documenting the important pipes. You’ll see no Sherlock Holmes driftwood in my collection and I just finished ridding myself of those boat anchors ( if you like your SH no shade. They’re just not for me)

So, enough with that nonsense. Here’s a cool piece of history. This is a Pete marketed at the Shannon Airport. It dates to the founding of the Duty Free shops.
