Finally opened the PPN - enjoying it as I type. Interesting blast - barely blasted on one side, a little craggier on the other, I like it. Great smoking pipe - working on some no dry time C&D Wintertime Reserve that came as a cake (and free because of the Xmas promotion at SP) - it must suit the chamber. I’m loving the shape and the spigot is a nice bonus.

Well, in the last few month I managed to acquire 4 Pre Republic Petersons. Top to bottom, a 312 System Premier that dates between 1815-1922, a System 3, shape 9 that dates between 1923-1937, a 314 System Standard that dates between 1938-1942 and a System Standard, shape 307 that dates between 1942-1946. I'm looking for a Patent Era 1875-1915 pipe and a 1947-1949 one and I will then possibly, maybe, not sure be content and sleep better.

Yeah that’s a top notch barber shop you have there.

I could have sworn I posted them, but guess I haven't.
I have 4 Petersons. The straight billiard is a pre-Republic and is a fantastic pipe.
The other 3 are just meh....

I do want to try a system.
I've been having trouble lately with my favorite Virginia blends biting me. I've been smoking burley blends mostly for the last couple years because of it. I think the System might help with that as well, keeping it dryer.
It does help but it doesn't eliminate the bite. It really is speed of smoking which I still need to be conscious about to stay at a slower, non-bitey cadence.
