I suspect this is/was one of the elusive Peterson "Giants" that Mark Irwin mentions in PPN. I found it interesting that it has a cross in the stamping and I wonder of that was done regularly (?) :

I believe that is a much older 'Giant" or 'magnum' House pipe. I was referring the last iteration of Giant or magnum pipes made from 1960 to 1983 and called "Giant" in the catalogs as referenced by Mark Irwin in PPN.
I would love one of those super Giants but way out of my price range and probably too long a smoke (days?)

My Barontini Gran Duc 203 with 360 degree straight grain is the same size. 60mm bowl; 20mmx55mm chamber. Its a perfect pipe and much less expensive. In fact I suspect its a copy of the giant ...made about the same time by Ilio Barontini.

Managed to get this from a friend who wanted it to stay in the Pete Geek family at a very very reasonable price IE below what it cost new. Now I'll have all three PPN pipes.

Honestly, they all looked great this time around. I got a Rua the last time these dropped (last spring I think?) and it has great blast, too. It’s also larger than this Iora. My Rua is bigger than my house pipe and this Iora is about the size of a pub pipe (talking bowl size).

Since the regular Newgranges on SP were going for $192, I figured the SH shaped ones wouldn't go for more than $20 more. $248 seems over-priced.
