While I get my sea legs back about me, I’ve been working through some of my own pipes to get back in the swing of things so to speak. Stem making is not like riding bike, it’s a use it or loose it skill. So here I’ve used it to return this 1913 Ben Wade Meer gifted to me by a friend, back to its former glory. The stem is tortoise shell acrylic with a period correct orific button and a bone screw tenon.

Seem to remember posting this before in another thread... but for those who missed it, here tis.

My Dad's meer he bought new in the 1930s. It's retired now because he's gone and the real amber stem has become brittle with age so tiny flakes will come off in my mouth. puffy

Beautiful oxblood meer.
Why not get a new stem cut so you can return it to active service ?

My father was not a pipe smoker. It would have been cool if he did, and passed his pipe(s) on to me

Finally picked up a meer for those rare times I smoke any Latakia blends, a nice little Astas that should color up a treat. This and a soon-to-arrive meer should be the end the bulk of my pipe allocation for the foreseeable future. The one next might just end up the crown jewel of my collection in block quality, so if that’s your deal, stay tuned!

Mustafa is a very good friend of mine. And that's a great example of his work! All his pipes color beautifully for me.
