Some of the Lee Bullmoose pipes have better than average grain for a Lee. It looks as though yours might as well.

The grain’s pretty decent all around. Your categorization of it as a Bullmoose is probably better. I think of a Bullmoose as having beefier proportions, but the shape itself matches up.
A while back I scored a nifty set: 3 7-pt star Apple with a box, sales card, and sock. I suspect the accessories may not be original to the pipe simply because I have a box with 7-pt stars and these are the 5s. But it’s a nice set nonetheless.
Nice straight grain up the side.
A bit of burn damage at the front of the rim, but it looks like the rest may come off with patience.

Yes, some of those old extra big Lees did have some very nice grain. Excellent. Thanks for sharing.
Third generation 3-star (stamped) Dublin with a large—for Lees—bowl. Whoever set this block up followed the grain rather nicely around the shank-to-bowl transition.
For a third generation Lee, you have a real winner. Not only does the grain look tops, but the stars are in excellent condition. That is a keeper.
I am so glad you ended up with that pipe and not some hillbilly ambulance chaser who WOULD HAVE scrubbed that nice finish off with steel wool.
That’s the best condition I’ve found stamped stars in, so to have ‘em on a pipe like this was a lucky find.

Great find…a type of rustication uncommon on Lees. That’ll clean up nicely.
This kind of carving was fairly common on 1st and 2nd gen 2-star Lees. Whatever flaws this little Bulldog is hiding, it’s still a perfectly fine smoker.

Of all the shapes Lee made, their bull moose pipes many times were their best in terms of build and grain. This one should clean up nicely. A bull moose is eluding me. How are the Briarlee Strollers? Seems like folks always asking 80 plus bucks for them, I guess because of the shape. Seems bull moose shapes always go fairly high considering regardless of brand.
A decent Briarlee Stroller is a rarer pipe than Lees, Briarlees, and perhaps Gold Coast pipes. I have a Stroller. It's a nice pipe - I wouldn't sell it. A stroller is a real nose warmer that lives up to its name.
