I'm starting to wonder if the shortage of mason jars is due to preppers or pipe smokers?
Lots of people took up canning and preserving during Covid. Also aluminum shortage. Ball also makes beer cans and they are having trouble cranking those out as well due to aluminum.
Wow

WOW....
I’m flabbergasted

I remember at the beginning of covid seeing the Mason jar shortage in my area. Couldn't believe it. We've been canning for years on the farm, as our family did before us. A mason jar and lid shortage was just baffling to me. Then a seed shortage followed so I put two and two together.
Needless to say, it didn't last long. Lots of people would rather go buy engineered and processed food than put in thr very minimal work to grow and preserve their own

What kinds of seeds were in short supply? I had no trouble getting seeds from Baker Heirloom as well as Sew True…were you trying to buy enough to plant a whole field or something? I recall some politician trying to close down the sale of seeds during Covid. Not sure if it actually happened though. This was in Michigan or Minnesot.

Johnny seeds were out of supply and only supplying commercial growers.

Just seeds at the stores. Lowes, feed and seed stores, home depot. I harvest my seeds from our crops. But I noticed back then, all the seed displays were empty at every single store. I asked a worker what was up with that. He said when covid started, people started buying seeds like crazy. Then the seed suppliers weren't sending more to the stores so for that year they were not existent at a lot of places in my state (Georgia). To the point where it was being discussed on the radio. People don't realize they can order or grow better seeds.

I'll play. My little mess - modest in comparison to most.
Another shelf of jars (mostly my big jar storage) in my utility room with 3 more boxes of stuff to "forget about".

My wife is a Saint.

Looks great and yes i'm def going to find a nice tall 5+ shelf bookcase when I move, it's really the only answer at this point, smaller apt with a lot lot lot less cabinet space, I'm thinking at least one 84" book case in the office nook area will be a good start, probably right behind my desk chair so there is a nice view when I'm on work calls with clients lol

I love the shelves for storage, my other is one of those bug metal wire shelves on wheels. It's easy to find stuff, easy to add stuff, kind of visually appealing. Ill look forward to seeing your new shelves all decked out haha
I need to organize mine. I really wanna get all my tobacco in one place instead of scattered in 2 different rooms and in all these little boxes.

Yeah i haven't been back at it that long and a few months ago when i started back up after a few years, i had a couple pipes and about 12 tins of tobacco ... i went down the slope FAST. I need to find the pic of the first few tins and maybe stack all my tins up on the same table for a before and after pic, I need to start boxing them up anyway for my move the 17th of next month so might be a good weekend chore.

Same here. Constructing an office/study/library. Half-height book shelves on 2 walls. One for books. One for the stash. A place where I can “work late”.

Thinking I’ll stick to my two small cabinets and heavy duty boxes for the overflow. The wife will probably frown less at that than she would at a whole shelf with all the tins hanging out in all their glory! Lol. Out of her sight, out of her mind.
