Here’s a preview of my contribution to next weeks Collectors Showcase in Vegas. Epoca’s from my non core shape collections. A wide variety of shapes and carving styles. Some are very rare and a couple are magnificent examples.
I'm not buying green bananas either but, then, I don't have your magnificent and rare collection. I started a thread awhile ago wondering what people like you intend to do with their collections when they're no longer eating bananas. It would be a shame if they were broken up or discarded. My thought was to start a pipe museum where collections like yours could be preserved and displayed. I believe Castello has a museum. Maybe Stephanie Coppo would be interested in acquiring your collection and the many other wonderful Castello collections I've seen over the years. This also sounds like something Sykes Wilford at Smoking Pipes would be great at setting up.

So two types exist to my eye. The more modern version is the bottom one and has a velvet/napped look and feel and the older type is the top, feel and texture is like chamois leather. I think that given your pipe is Scotti era the older chamois leather look is the most logical but either will protect your pipe admirably.

Thanks! I'll keep an eye out for the chamois-style.

If anyone is reading this and has one they'd be willing to let go of, let me know!
