Here’s my latest Edward’s Algerian Briar #709 Pot.

It came to me covered with a thick coat of varnish, but varnish doesn’t stick to Algerian briar any better than cake does. I was able to bring this $20 delivered pipe back using nothing but 4/0 steel wool, Everclear, and grapeseed oil.

Old Algerian briar pipes must be smoked to be properly appreciated. The briar is soft, and it was difficult to polish and work:

Let’s see yours!

There was an earlier post by former member danielplainview showing off an almost identical pipe sporting the Loewe & Co livery.
Cleary these pipes were made in France (?St. Claude),
imported into England, tarted up with silver then marketed

These two were easy to find:

Top pipe is a "Lord Clerit", if my eyes can properly read the script. Under that is a "Royal Ascot Deluxe". So simiar, they may have been made in the same factory... right down to the same font on the "Algerian Briar" stamping.
