Plumcake in the summer. Darktwist at night.
People might say this is bananas but heavy lakelands during the cold of winter.

Sounds like you're ready to leave the big red island to the north of TasmaniaMust be in my genes, I don't handle hot weather very well for too long. I get why they sent people down here as a form of punishment though. That said it's been pretty much mid to high 30's C since New Years; which granted being summer, it is what it is. So not quite year round.
Mind you, where I'm at is quite dry, RH around 20-35% which helps.
Definitely in the plans for a holiday sometime but my parents moved to Nelson Bay and it would be nice to settle close to them soon... Just need my lotto numbers to come up because house pricing between Nelson Bay & CowraSounds like you're ready to leave the big red island to the north of Tasmania![]()
I agree. Which is why in my original post I wrote that MY palate is seasonal. I like certain beers in winter vs others in summer with some exceptions. So, I was asking if there was an exception for those who have a similar preference regarding tobacco.I once heard the great Cajun chef Justin Wilson after pouring himself a glass of red wine to have with a fish dish.
"Some like only white wine with fish, some like red wine with only meat. Hell, I like wine drink whatever you like".
Thats the way I feel about tobacco forget the hoity toity hoopla of proper tobaccos for what time of day, what time of year, or what brand of soda water you're drinking at the time smoke what YOU like when you want to smoke it. Throwing out the science and social Emily Post b.s. makes your smoke more enjoyable. Experiment and enjoy.
People who have seasonal preferences aren't all looking up to see what is proper at what time. Far from hoity toity. We just prefer to smoke certain blends when it's hot and prefer others when it's cold.hoity toity hoopla of proper tobaccos for what time of day, what time of year, or what brand of soda water you're drinking at the time smoke what YOU like when you want to smoke it.
Sorry if I offended anyone but didn't know I was shitting on anyone's conversation. my whole point was to try it all and smoke what you like. and no, I don't smoke one blend, I only shy away from burley's and Hevey latakia. why because I don't like them.just stop shitting in the middle of other people's conversations, with nothing else to offer.
Thanks for the recommendation. I'll check it out!As and added note Father Dempsy's is always good.
The question was, “have folks found an English blend that works well for them in the summer so that I can try it too see if it rings my cherries or not?”
Although I must decline to ring your cherries, I can offer an answer to your question: Boswell's Countryside.
I too am a somewhat seasonal smoker, smoking more latakia in the winter than the summer (although, I'm also a situational smoker, and feel that latakia suits a summer campfire). In any case, if I had to choose a *summer* latakia mixture, it might be Countryside: it's a tad lighter and sweeter than some, without that heaviness and richness that feels incommensurate with a summer day.

I'm originally from Cleveland. I come back at least twice per year to visit!I dont have a blend preference but I have a few pipes that are bigger than others and those tend to come out in the warmer months. I'm from Ohio but also refuse to smoke inside so when the air is so cold that it hurts my face I smoke something that'll only last a half hour.
Oh nice! Send me a pm if you're visiting and have time to link up and smoke. Always fun meeting other pipe smokers in person.I'm originally from Cleveland. I come back at least twice per year to visit!
Then you should have just asked that, because the op to me comes off like "do others have a seasonal preference?".The question was not, “should I limit myself?”

He did. The problem is that most folks do not read beyond the title. Then you should have just asked that, because the op to me comes off like "do others have a seasonal preference?".
I guess they did, I just mis-remembered the original post and presumed from the response I had quoted that it was another one of those posts that was vague and indirect. He did. The problem is that most folks do not read beyond the title.
But, when you read the OP, it's clearly asking about latakia. And, of course we know that there is no across the board blends of any sorts. But, if we limited questions in the forums to things that were concrete and objective... the forums would be a stagnant pool of nothingness. But, maybe some of us like to think about different ways people choose what tobaccos that they choose.
