I also have no variance in preference between the seasons, and that's for most things too. Like, I do prefer a crisp pilsner when it's hot over some heavier beer, but I'll drink pilsner in the winter too. And I tend to be disinclined toward soups when it's hot, but it's not like the weather turning cold makes me want soup, I just want soup less when it's hot. But those are my only food things.

Beyond those two things, I have no seasonal preferences for anything, much less tobacco. I guess when it's hot, I might more prefer lighter blends regardless of the genre, but no genre preferences.

Must be in my genes, I don't handle hot weather very well for too long. I get why they sent people down here as a form of punishment though. That said it's been pretty much mid to high 30's C since New Years; which granted being summer, it is what it is. So not quite year round.
Mind you, where I'm at is quite dry, RH around 20-35% which helps.
Sounds like you're ready to leave the big red island to the north of Tasmania :ROFLMAO:

Definitely in the plans for a holiday sometime but my parents moved to Nelson Bay and it would be nice to settle close to them soon... Just need my lotto numbers to come up because house pricing between Nelson Bay & Cowra 🙄

I always thought I'd live in Tassie one day, but checking the weather/satellite images everyday over the last couple of years has scared me off. How many days of sunshine do you get there per year, like 7?

I once heard the great Cajun chef Justin Wilson after pouring himself a glass of red wine to have with a fish dish.

"Some like only white wine with fish, some like red wine with only meat. Hell, I like wine drink whatever you like".

Thats the way I feel about tobacco forget the hoity toity hoopla of proper tobaccos for what time of day, what time of year, or what brand of soda water you're drinking at the time smoke what YOU like when you want to smoke it. Throwing out the science and social Emily Post b.s. makes your smoke more enjoyable. Experiment and enjoy.

I agree. Which is why in my original post I wrote that MY palate is seasonal. I like certain beers in winter vs others in summer with some exceptions. So, I was asking if there was an exception for those who have a similar preference regarding tobacco.

The question was not, “should I limit myself?”

The question was not, “do others have seasonal preferences?”

The question was, “have folks found an English blend that works well for them in the summer so that I can try it too see if it rings my cherries or not?”

People who have seasonal preferences aren't all looking up to see what is proper at what time. Far from hoity toity. We just prefer to smoke certain blends when it's hot and prefer others when it's cold.

Do you wear your favorite coat or jacket in the middle of summer "just because you want to wear it?" Are you following some prescribed fashion sense by not wearing coats in the summer?

People who always feel compelled to post "NOT ME" when threads like this pop are just irritating and offer NOTHING to these threads. I mean, if you only smoke one tobacco, then of course we can guess your reply to threads like this. But, just stop shitting in the middle of other people's conversations, with nothing else to offer.

Sorry if I offended anyone but didn't know I was shitting on anyone's conversation. my whole point was to try it all and smoke what you like. and no, I don't smoke one blend, I only shy away from burley's and Hevey latakia. why because I don't like them.

To the op saying you were limiting yourself was not my intention, What I intended was to say if you like it, it's all good.

But I guess that's not what I was saying. I didn't know I wasn't until now thank you both for pointing it out to me.

Although I must decline to ring your cherries, I can offer an answer to your question: Boswell's Countryside.

I too am a somewhat seasonal smoker, smoking more latakia in the winter than the summer (although, I'm also a situational smoker, and feel that latakia suits a summer campfire). In any case, if I had to choose a *summer* latakia mixture, it might be Countryside: it's a tad lighter and sweeter than some, without that heaviness and richness that feels incommensurate with a summer day.

I'm still trying blends and figuring out my tastes, seasonal or not, but I am a big fan of English and Lat-heavy blends, and you might add C & D's Stratfordshire to your list, it's a lighter, milder English, and I'll certainly be testing it out in warmer weather!

I dont have a blend preference but I have a few pipes that are bigger than others and those tend to come out in the warmer months. I'm from Ohio but also refuse to smoke inside so when the air is so cold that it hurts my face I smoke something that'll only last a half hour.

I'm originally from Cleveland. I come back at least twice per year to visit!

Then you should have just asked that, because the op to me comes off like "do others have a seasonal preference?".

The answer will depend on you though, it depends what kind you like, and for those that do have seasonal preferences, they're all going to have wildly different preferences... when it's hot, some will like a heavy English while others will like a lighter one. Or for some, they're going to prefer muskier/leathery English in one season or the other over woody/smokey English, etc. It depends on whether or not they associate flavor with seasons, or if they want lighter vs heavier depending on the season (without regard to flavor profile).

But there's not going to be an across the board generality on it to help guide you on finding an English blend to smoke in the summer.

He did. The problem is that most folks do not read beyond the title.
But, when you read the OP, it's clearly asking about latakia. And, of course we know that there is no across the board blends of any sorts. But, if we limited questions in the forums to things that were concrete and objective... the forums would be a stagnant pool of nothingness. But, maybe some of us like to think about different ways people choose what tobaccos that they choose.

I guess they did, I just mis-remembered the original post and presumed from the response I had quoted that it was another one of those posts that was vague and indirect.
