I have magic erasers, 12,000 grit paper and microfiber pads en route. I’ve also read that soaking the stems in oxy clean brings out the oxidation. If it's your first attempt, I'd suggest Magic Erasers and a manicure block to clean them up.
I'd skip that step entirely. It can cause pitting that will need sanding. There's another way that involves a lighter and a wet paper towel but that one is best left until you've got a couple of cleanups under your belt.I’ve also read that soaking the stems in oxy clean brings out the oxidation.
Ok, noted! I’ve done some reaming and sanding on a couple of meerschaums and a briar. I stopped for lack of the right tools and materials but when I get the shipment I’ll revisit them. I’ve never tried stems. Just replaced a broken one is all so far. Yours turned out great!I'd skip that step entirely. It can cause pitting that will need sanding. Extremely well done! How much is too much to pay for an estate pipe? I’ve been trying to stay at $10 each or less. Thanks! I've been tinkering for a while now.

Ah, that is the question. That entirely depends on how much the buyer is willing to pay for it. I once saw a Bo Nordh go for $40,000.00How much is too much to pay for an estate pipe?
Wow! I’ve seen bowls with broken or missing stems that were in good shape but I don’t know about getting stems. There’s so many different types. I wouldn’t know where to go. I found one for a meerschaum but that wasn’t a big deal.Ah, that is the question. That entirely depends on how much the buyer is willing to pay for it. I once saw a Bo Nordh go for $40,000.00
Uh oh. I just ordered my first one yesterday. At the time I was given mine I was also warned that it could be a curse to get one.
King of the Yearly Pipe?
Back when Chasing Embers, I, and a number of others were given a personalized tag, it wasn't something that you could order, it was something that was offered by the Powers That Be, with a caution not to get too grand over being offered one lest ye fall into the fiery pit.Uh oh. Tiny after your little... meer!Back in the day it was because of your personality. Now it can be anything you want, or are voted for, after 5000 posts.
Luckily.....I don't have one. I couldn't imagine what people would call me
Kind of hard to say that when you get the name professionally smudged. And quite possibly sacrificing Rocky Mortons sanity might have helped lift the curse (or displaced it, yeah I went there again... There are somethings in life that boggle the mind so that it's almost hard to believe that real living people had anything to do with it....)oh wow was it a curse?
No, just a name.
I was lucky to never get branded that way since all the possibilities would have involved either (a) deviant behavior (b) deviant tobacco tastes
The one pipe per year guy, of coursecouldn't imagine what people would call me
Aha. Cross purposes I believe.
