I don’t venture far from classic sized billiards.

The 3/4 bent I have won’t pass a pipe cleaner unless I bend the tip of the cleaner juuuust so. But it does give me a view of the bowl while smoking and I can see why this shape is popular.

Aesthetically, I love a tapered classic billiard.

Of 22 Pipes, only 3 are not billiards.

Have you ever purchased a pipe that smokes so good, now your scared to buy a different brand or style? For fear of being disappointed, and wasting money? Just curious.
I’m more scared of realizing the newest pipe I bought is the best and the first ones sucked... and that I need to get all new pipes. Then you will get one even better and have to get more.

If you purchase enough of the same style pipe from the same maker, you'll eventually be disappointed I think. There are lots of variables with both the material and the carver that are difficult to impossible to reproduce perfectly time after time. I like steak but I sure don't eat it every meal and I'm sure if I did, I'd get sick of it after awhile. I have a variety of shapes. I am really, really enjoying my relatively new experience with Meerschaum pipes. I'd hate the thought of having been so narrow minded I would have missed out on the joy of smoking Meerschaum pipes. However, there are so many different personality and behavioral types, each person should do what makes them happy.

Also you can get afraid to branch out. I never would have bought a volcano with bamboo shank but just traded for one and I love it now. Even before I smoked it I thought to myself “man, this thing is pretty homely”. Yet I love the way it feels and smokes. Plus it has a flat bottom to sit upright. I would have passed on this pipe but it’s opened my eyes to some other styles and materials I may have overlooked.

Are you talking about a pipe or a girlfriend?

Well; apart from 1x Porsche Design and 2x Butz-Choquin all my pipes are Petersons. Not against trying other makers; just everytime I have some funds for a new pipe I see a Pete that I like the look of.

More relevantly my Porsche Design is my only straight pipe; all of my pipes are bents of some sort. They also vary from very small to very large with shortish stems through to church wardens and are pretty much most shapes Peterson have made.

The Porsche is also my only unsmoked pipe; I bought it as unsmoked estate pipe so not particularly expensive but what is putting me off is it has straight stem!

So no; I'm not stuck to a particular size or style of bowl but I just cannot bring myself to smoke a straight stemmed pipe. :sher:
