No or very few boxes this drop from what I can gather, but yes, the drop is happening right now. It just isn't a great one and the prices have gone up quite a bit. No Cabbies, LD, or Bothy either from what I can tell.

This *Should be the last shipment with these crappy tins, and it seems like they didn't even attempt to vacuum seal them this time. The cellophane wrap on this shipment is certainly not airtight, and is just to keep the lid from falling off in shipment. Word on the street is that there are new tins that hold a vacuum without crushing (not sure who cared about the crushing, but apparently enough people complained that they stopped vacuuming them). So, in short, these issues should be gone by the time we get the next shipment.

My solution is to either jar them upon arrival. Or wrap them in foil tape which has worked very well for me and I do that with most tins eventually anyway.

The last majordrop of SQ product had a number of problems, among which were reports of compromised tins. In general I've round that square and rectangular tins do not hold up nearly as well as round tins as years go by. They're good for maybe 7-8 years, and then the continual slow leaking that has been going on since the tin was sealed, reaches a point where the pressure equalizing and the seal relaxing becomes increasingly possible, and after a couple of decades, probable. Why wouldn't that be the case? How do you provide equal pressure along a square or rectangular profile. A circular profile is ideal for that.

Just checked all 10 tins and only 1 was sealed and required a coin to open. The lids on the rest came off with little to no effort. I'm done buying SG tins. I'll wait for the boxes or else just buy something else.

If you bought tins recently, consider checking and jarring them.

@gawithhoggarth These new SG tins are awful - 9 out of 10 were unsealed, held on only by the shrinkwrap around the lip.

From what I've heard on here, I think it's an issue with square/rectangular tins in general. Seems they are prone to seal failure, whereas circular tins don't have this problem. I happen to have only the latter, so I don't really think about this too much myself. I hear ya on the MacB tins though--"Insert quarter and twist" my ass! I need a damn shoehorn to get the lid off sometimes.
can't do it with your fingers?

Wait, you mean to say that you can open a sealed round tin with just your fingers? Ha ha,. I wanna see that.
I didn't say it is easy but desperation can happen and if it's wait till you find a flat metal object or pry it by hand then just pull up while twisting it normally and after a bit it will release also occasionally hook a finger nail under the rim and try to lift it up. Good party trick too.
