I've been out of range of the internet or phone service for a while. By next week I should be back near the population centers. I'll lose my isolated little private coves, but at least I'll have a more reliable internet connection.

For those of you who like boat pictures:

There is no time for smoking when I am underway. But when I drop anchor and get everything secure I have the best smokes ever.

I rowed in here for some groceries before leaving the islands.

The peach color went all the way around the horizon.

Approaching "civilization" if you can call it that.

At least I get strong radio and internet signals again.

I still have nice places to anchor...

... but now it seems I'm always in somebody's front yard.

I took this picture sitting at anchor just as the sum was setting.

It seemed a fitting place to open a new tin of Seattle Evening.

I should be at my new permanent home in a few days.

I'll post a final picture for this thread when I get there.

This becomes a favorite smoking place when the weather is bad.

For putting up with me I think you all deserve a bowl of your favorite tobacco in your favorite pipe.

Bravo Philip, Welcome back to your safe harbor. Thanks for sharing with us land lubbers a little bit of your life on the water.
If I want to see a child graduate or see the joy of children opening Christmas presents, I have to rely on your pictures or other friends. Some of you may dream of life on a boat. I sometimes dream of a house and family or possibly a garden. While dreams can be good, it's best to live the life God gave you with contentment and no regrets. I wouldn't change mine.
-Well said, that really helps to keep things in perspective. :puffy:
Now that you've got some more down time on your hands you can crack into that General Class Book and upgrade your ham ticket.

beautiful pictures. I don't get out on any type of boat very often but i always loved it. I used to be a water taxi at a yacht club here in toronto. Got to go out a few times and just sail around. Always nice. Best time for me to work was the afternoon shift to see the boats coming in as the sun sets.
