Vegas Baby!!!
I love what I do as a fire investigator but there is zero romance in my job. Death, destruction, danger as well as unstable work hours are all part of the gig.

I’ve seen things that are beyond my imagination or nightmares. I’ve smelled things that are indescribable.

Having said that, my job isn’t for everyone, but it’s definitely for me.

if you want romance and adventure, become a fantasy writer, the government is always looking for more career bureaucrats.

I am a nurse anesthetist, I do anesthesia from a nursing degree. Nice job but a lot of school. The best job I ever had was seeing eye dog instructor teaching dogs and blind people using the dogs. The ability to teach is what they want. I always wanted to be a tree climber, helicopter trauma nurse, outdoor tour guide (kayak...), astronaut, the guy on the back of a trash truck (sunny days of course).

I don't want to imagine what you see and smell. You have to be very strong, mentally................ His work is worthy of admiration

Romance is so much in the person. For some, statistics are magic and open all doors, or accounting, though most people think of those as static and repetitious. There is the job and/or career, then there is how people view it. Getting other people to see the excitement in your job helps it be emotionally satisfying.

Worst was on dirtiest jobs where he had to clean out porn video booths. Holy hell u have to have a super open mind to find that romantic! Fighting STD's and helping society release their pent up frustrations. If it wasn't for that guy where would we all be as a society.

Oddly enough, I have gotten to know two former spies in my lifetime. One was a friend's grandfather whom I had to help out when the family went out of the country for a year. They both have said that while it sounds fun, it really does become just another job.

Interestingly, one of the happiest people in their work I have ever met was a building manager. He said that what made his job great was that as long as he was doing his job right, nobody knew it was being done...it only became noticable when he messed up.

I had a vendor called Diffley and daughters. They went around putting their giant sized hoses into septic tanks and sucking out shit all day long. They came to my plaza once a year and opened my tank covers and you could smell the shit over a hundred feet away. I paid him around 250.00 a year. That is one good business. He was a nice guy and I used him for almost 20 something years. when I got a good vendor I kept him. I despised my Hvac people as they were always nickle and dimming me me and always trying squeeze me for all kinds of stuff. The worst part was they always kept them shorter than all the other people. The guy who bought my plaza was a moron and didn't do his due diligence. I had 11 hvac units and maybe 2 didn't have problems. He was going to be totally screwed, I was supposed to file some kind of form but I said fuck you, you don't check, then you will be screwed. That was how we did business in R.I

I recommend reading the book Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us by Daniel Pink. He talks about extrinsic vs intrinsic motivation and the factors that go into feeling fulfilled in your work: autonomy, mastery and purpose.
