I think by know they would have stopped if they were merely looky loos as you would implie.

Hell, on photrio i still get random responses to threads i posted. and its been 2 years now.

Some come to the forum for escapism from a bad day or just the world events in general just to get shit on by a handful of people that needed better parenting and didn't read forum rule 10.

I didn’t last a day on watchuseek because I had a closed slipjoint knife in a photo.

I guess compared to some interest forums I’ve lurked/participated in pipe forums are kinda mild mannered with occasional blowups. Bantering is fun, taking it too seriously I guess isn’t.

There was a post some time ago by a former moderator that suggested that many were just passively using the like button to acknowledge they had read the post. Caused some sort of clutter I believe.
