I am positive that it is either BROBS... whose humor would fit in with this, or it's Drunken Bob. Now if you think about it, a southern accent is really a variation of an English accent (When asked how he learned to do an American Southern accent, Andrew Lincoln once famously quipped, I think about someone whose an idiot and then I talk slower). Definitely a troll who came here with a grudge against G&H. Every one of Grendel's posts is squarely focused on Gawith since coming to PSM.@BROBS is that you?
I have no dog in this fight, but I feel the need to point out that, "It used to sell out all of the time but now it doesn't," (paraphrasing, obviously) doesn't necessarily mean something's less popular. It can be explained by higher stock levels.Dear Briarcutter,
I appreciate your concern, but I reckon we’ll have to agree to disagree. That dead horse you mentioned? Far as I can tell, it’s alive and kickin’. Now, let’s set aside all the emotions for a minute and look at this situation clear-headed, like a businessman might.
Say you’ve got a product that’s sellin’ real well, and you decide to cut corners on quality so you can churn out more of it. The new version hits the market, and lo and behold, sales don’t take a hit. Customers aren’t raisin’ a fuss either. In that kind of scenario, why on earth would you go back to the way things were? If it were me, I wouldn’t. Only way I’d rethink my approach is if sales started droppin’ or if customers kicked up enough of a storm.
Now, I don’t have official sales numbers in front of me, but I’ve kept an eye on things. For example, I’ve been watchin’ the sales of GH blends on Smokingpipes for the past three years. I know every market’s a little different, but it gives you a bit of a picture. Take the flavored twists—Rum, Whisky, Cherry—they were flyin’ off the shelves. Rum Twist especially. Back in 2024, winter stock sold out just as quick as ever. But by spring? Those twists lingered, and even now they ain’t in the top 100 bulk blends on Smokingpipes.
Seems to me, folks have noticed the dip in quality and ain’t buyin’ with the same enthusiasm anymore. That’s somethin’.
Now, as for customer service, I ain’t got much good to say there either. They never did reply to an email I sent, and that ain’t what I’d call decent service. But I did notice a GH representative spendin’ time on pipesmoking forums. Let’s be honest—she ain’t doin’ that outta the goodness of her heart. More likely, it’s her job to keep an eye on what folks are sayin’. Makes sense from a business standpoint—monitorin’ the online chatter is a whole lot easier than actually answerin’ emails.
Far as I can tell, as long as feedback stays quiet and sales hold steady, they won’t feel the need to change a thing. But imagine if people started speakin’ up. If folks weren’t afraid to voice their dissatisfaction and sales took a dive, that could force GH to rethink their ways.
Right now, it feels like a taboo to criticize GH in this forum. Anyone who tries gets mobbed like they insulted someone’s family. But what if someone, say, like me, were to challenge that and normalize a little honest critique? I know I’m not the only one unhappy with the recent changes, and I reckon more folks might feel the courage to speak up if they saw they weren’t alone.
Put together a little noise and a sales slump, and there’s hope GH might steer things back on track.
Yeah. “When it was first widely available for the first time in years everyone and their brother bought a shit ton until they were sitting on a bunch”.I have no dog in this fight, but I feel the need to point out that, "It used to sell out all of the time but now it doesn't," (paraphrasing, obviously) doesn't necessarily mean something's less popular. No. Definitely not trolling. What would make you think that? The OP's first few posts weren't posted in this ridiculous Southern Accent, which makes me think it's all a troll. It feels like I'm reading a goddamn Charles Dickens novel with all of the phonetic diction.
Yes, so what? So, is this based off smoking just one batch?
Louisiana flake, St James flake/plug sell out as quickly as ever. There were some LA flake leftovers recently. Burnt Ends they call ‘em. Sold just as well.I have no dog in this fight, but I feel the need to point out that, "It used to sell out all of the time but now it doesn't," (paraphrasing, obviously) doesn't necessarily mean something's less popular. Hmmmm...Louisiana Flake and St. James Flake aren't generally available. If only I could solve the mystery of what those two blends have in common then I might understand what ingredient might be limiting their availability. But it's a mystery to me...Louisiana flake, St James flake/plug sell out as quickly as ever. There were some LA flake leftovers recently. Burnt Ends they call ‘em. Sold just as well.
another one on to ignoreYes, so what?
I expect you to tell that exact same thing to those who reviewed Firebird flakeYou absolute peanut![]()
Twists used to be rare too, until GH filled up the market with low quality version and that's how they became availableHmmmm...Louisiana Flake and St. James Flake aren't generally available. I recently picked up a few of their twists and the quality was excellent. I'd be the first to complain if the quality was bad.Twists used to be rare too, until GH filled up the market with low quality version and that's how they became available
That’s great. Good for youI recently picked up a few of their twists and the quality was excellent. I'd be the first to complain if the quality was bad.
(Whispering to the audience: Let's watch as his next reply is either to claim my palate is unsophisticated, or attempts to move the goal posts to something unrelated.)
Yeah you Southern guys need to stick together!Whenery, just let this thread go. Your not going to convince people to agree with you about this, and what would the point be? I am just not going to support that company anymore. Just vote with your dollar, and support the blends you do like. And, branch out a little away from the flavored blends.
