Restoration of a 1912 F.F.F. With a Crater in the Stem

Here’s a 1912 F.F.F in a Diamond with J.H. In a Triangle.

A cannibal had chewed through the stem. Then someone tried to fix it and the cannibal either was still hungry or the repair failed.

I cleaned it up, used G/Flex Epoxy and Black Pigment and then went at it after it dried.

The stem still needs a little more work, but I’m smoking it instead of trashing it. Good enough for now.

It has the right feel and it marine rated so it has microscopic flex.

Great effort fixing a pipe many would consider past repair! And good on you taking a stand against cannibalism.

I use G flex thanks to George too, great for delrin rod tenons that came loose amongst other things...

I thought sometime past - lost in the mists of history - long pig was a delicacy.
Or have I confused that with some of your Pacific neighbours ?

I recall reading that to partake of a fallen foe was thought to confer his bravery and fighting ability to the partakers and to honour his spirit.

While the pipe in question came from NZ, I feel the provenance of the damage lies elsewhere. The lack of duct tape and fencing wire used in the repair show it’s not the work of kiwi ingenuity
